The Ukrainian government has set up a hotline for families of Russian soldiers to call in and enquire about their status.
Additionally, according to the Ukrainian MOD, captured prisoners have the opportunity to call home
That’s brilliant.

[Aircraft Spots on Twitter] An impressive visual of the ongoing 24/7 NATO Combat Air Patrol (CAP) coverage over Romania and Poland. In terms of US assets, F-35s are over Poland and F-16s are covering Romania.

That’s a huge wild card that has yet to be played. That’s why I don’t think these sanctions are as significant as we’re being told.

Trey Yingst from Fox News just reported that the majority of the Russian offensive, so far, have been scouts to figure out the best way to get into Kyiv.

It’s my reason on thinking that he’s baiting Europe by going slow on this.
He has his sights broader but he needs something to justify it.
If it was just Ukraine he’d go shock and awe get it over with and stand down after a few days take a couple token sanctions and live with it.
By going slow he knows the west can’t help themselves by being drawn in which gives him the justification to move on

[FoxNews] Is the Russia-China alliance cracking?
quote:
Russia and China have maintained a close working relationship for years, but that relationship appears to be in question after Russian President Vladimir Putin made the decision to invade Ukraine and take on serious economic sanctions.
Two Chinese state-owned banks announced Friday, as reported by Bloomberg News, that they will restrict financing for Russian commodity purchases.
Offshore units of Industrial & Commercial Bank of China have stopped issuing U.S. dollar-denominated letters of credit for purchases of physical Russian commodities ready for export, while the Bank of China has also limited funding.
The implementation of those restrictions, which could be temporary, brings into question Beijing's support for Moscow as Western alliances deliver harsh sanctions on Russia. According to Bloomberg, the four largest banks in China have complied with prior sanctions from the U.S. against Iran, North Korea and officials in Hong Kong because they need access to the U.S. dollar clearing system.

That’s not really an option. A significant % of Ukrainians are de facto Russian in one way or another. That’s a huge asset to Putin; but a hinderance as well.

You think Putin is going to turn around and go home and that’s it ?
That’s not an option for him. He’s either going to do something crazy or bloody someone’s nose on the way out.
No, he's all in. He won't quit. But his army might. There are already reports of a large scale riot at a base in western Russia over soldiers being ordered to Ukraine. Not credible yet, but something to watch for confirmation.
What I think is highly likely is Russian State TV will come on the air with some solemn music and someone will mournfully announce that Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin has unexpectedly succumbed to a health issue. It's the good old Soviet way.

Wait you think russia is a communist country. Holy frick.
They’re a corrupt oligarchy. Like where the US is headed. Wealthy group of big corporation owners run the show and control politics and squash any competition, business or politics wise.

Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power to the detriment or destruction of the individual.
This definition fits China, Russia, and the U.S. maybe the Nazis have been secretly taking over shite under a different label

[CNN] Defenders of Ukrainian island may still be alive and now POWs, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine says
quote:
The defenders of the small Ukrainian island of Zmiinyi in the Black Sea may still be alive, according to a statement released on Saturday by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGSU).
"We [have a] strong belief that all Ukrainian defenders of Zmiinyi (Snake) Island may be alive,” the statement said.
Both President Zelensky and the SBGSU said Friday all the soldiers had been killed following the small island’s capture by Russian forces.
Preliminary information that border guards may be dead came before the defenders lost contact," Saturday's statement said.
On Friday, Russian Major-General Igor Konashenkov said 82 Ukrainian servicemen “laid down their arms and voluntarily surrendered to a unit of the Russian Armed Forces.”
The SBGSU statement added, “Russian media reported that Ukrainian servicemen on the island had been sent to Sevastopol” in Crimea.
On Friday, audio emerged of an exchange between the Ukrainian fighters and an officer of the Russian navy. In the exchange, the Ukrainians were heard to say to “Russian warship – go f*** yourself.”

Putin wants Ukraine for economic and strategic reasons as a launching spot for broader stuff moving forward. He doesn’t want to have to worry about building back up a razed to the ground Ukraine+doesn’t want to deal with a massive motivated home resistance in Ukraine by going all out general Sherman style.
Well, Putin has changed that goal. They've ramped up the destruction over the past 12-24 hours and that has led to more civilian deaths.

Who knows that is still based on Russian state media saying they didn't kill Ukrainians. It's not far fetched to think Russia is lying.

Based on the live cams, it looks like Ukrainians have people out with spotlights looking for people. Do you think they are worried about snipers slipping through?

I think all those reports about the military quitting or not knowing they are in Ukraine are bogus.
