Huh, then what do you make in the long-term? That seems like a lot.

Well then your original question is moot.

A decent starting salary can be anywhere from $40k -$200k+ depending on the field.

I'm undeclared. That's what I meant. Only like engineers, doctors, or businessmen can realistically make 200k, right?

There are IT jobs making that much. Or contractors taking multiple jobs getting there.

Accountant here. 10 years ago came out making $45,000.

So with inflation and all I’d shoot for $350k.

Depends on a number of factors, but from my experience there is a huge misconception around this.

Outside of being an MD, you will not earn what you think with 0 experience. However in 2-5 years with hard work you can have a 100% uplift.

50k is pretty normal. Make a move after a couple years. Then make another one if you are really motivated

This is the MT and not OT so I’ll be polite, but bruh you should be looking into this and not have to ask on a message board.

Out of college and first 10 year salaries are very overrated. Find a field you enjoy doing every day, and then figure out how to make money doing it. There’s money out there in almost every field. Happiness is making decent money and enjoying it.

This is great advice. There is loads of information out on the internet for this kind of thing.

You should go to each college that you're interested in and find out what % of graduates get placements right after graduation (not within 5 years or some BS) and what they are being paid. This should be broken down by major and GPA ideally so you can get an idea.

If you're a B student in High School, you will probably also be a B student in College. You could also party too much or really try to stretch yourself and be a C or D student. For some fields, that really doesn't matter if there is enough demand. GPA doesn't matter once you land your first job and your Major ceases to matter after around year 5 or so.

50k is decent i think. 60k would be good. 70k would be great.

Depends what you're doing. If you want to be a doctor then you have to go to medical school for 4 years and then do a 4-5 year residency and potentially a 1-2 fellowship so you are looking at 5-7 more years after undergrad before you make decent money.

Engineering you can start anywhere from $60-125k depending on what you're doing and who you work for.

Some information technology majors can demand 100k salary.

Some philosophy majors can bank $14 a hour plus tips at Starbucks

Are you talking long term or right out of school? Because only doctors are making that much right out of school on this list after much more schooling.
