1905 LSU football team photograph ***Update on the photo in the OP***

I bought this today at an estate sale. It’s the original photograph, framed and matted.
Apparently one of the guys on team was the uncle of the guy who’s estate sale it was from.
***Update***
I did sell the photograph, but I wanted to make sure it was an original, not a copy. I took the back off, and when I did this, I found more documents on the photo, buried deep in the makeshift pocket on the back.
Apparently, it was not his uncle, it was his father that played on the team.

The rules of American Football in 1905 were very interesting. This was before the Forward Pass, but, only just before, so, the Rules were very well-developed before the forward pass changed the game significantly.

I’m an old man. I refuse to buy new phones. I’m still rocking an iPhone 8, and I bought it used for $100

Can anyone figure out where they are sitting?
Old State Capitol doesn’t have steps like that, does it?

So all the guys played both ways.

They played for LSU, not Texas A&M.

This is really cool. How do you know it’s the 1905 LSU football team? Is it on the pic anywhere?

I meant offense and defense.
But you knew that.

On the back of the frame, there is a pocket that contains these papers, breaking down who’s who in the photo, plus it says 1905

They probably would have beaten our last 2 teams

Looks like a few South Louisiana whops.

One of those dudes apparently died of the (Spanish?) flu in 1915. Another one died AT LSU? From not wearing a helmet?

I spy a few New Iberia haircuts

Wonder what NIL was back then?

Great buy, the photo and notes tell a neat story.

Pretty sure I've got you beat. You and your new fangled $100 used phone take a back seat to my $25 Ushining Flip Phone.

No need. There's not a black face to be seen in that pic, and not because the camera couldn't take a clear picture of it.
