I bought a banded outer shell last year on sale and it works fine. Very similar to my Sitka jacket.

I am very happy with my Hardcore Waterfowl gear. I have hunted in absolute down pours and stayed dry. Their wind proofing is great too. It doesn't fit all baggy like other brands I have owned. It is more like bow hunting clothes. The sleeves and chest don't get in the way. Hardcore Waterfowl

Water will get through goretex after long enough. The big advantage goretex has is its breathability. Also if the seams are shite on a cheaper goretex coat then it is worthless. Price some Simms rain gear. It is the only goretex that will last many years with zero leaks.

I have a Sitka Delta jacket that I love….. I also got it at outfitter cost so that made the deal even better!

First Lite will be coming out with a waterfowl line. Some of the Duck Camp Dinner Baws had it this past season.

I have KUIU it is great quality. But some of their stuff does run a little tight, so if you are husky just make sure it is an outerlayer jacket and read the fit guide.

Why the dislike for Sitka? Is it because it’s the popular brand of the day or the high price? I don’t own any but from all accounts it’s a quality product that performs very well.

Honestly just a personal thing, the guys that I hunt with that wear sitka talk a massive amount of trash to those that dont wear sitka. So I went and bought Kuiu

I have a Filson Skagit and love it. Good combo of waterproof and really warm. Comes in a couple of patterns.

You might want to check out Gamehide stuff. I have a jacket that is probably 20 years old and is legit on waterproofing and has a very durable outer shell they call there waterfowl gear Stormhide. Not the cheapest stuff, but not in the same conversation as the Sitka stuff on price.

It seems the bigger issue here is that you hunt with a bunch of pickle sniffers

I’ve had the goretex stuff leak as well. The only 100% waterproof jacket I have found so far is grundens. If rain is in the forecast I throw my grundens in the boat. I just put them on over my stuff if it starts raining then take them off when it stops.

I have a goretex columbia gore camo shell that is very water resistant. If its a toad strangler I wear a stretchy Helly jacket that doesnt breath but is 100% waterproof. Its a bit of a tradeoff depending on how wet it is.

Pretty sure First Lite will release their waterfowl line this year, I would hold off

Can't recommend FL enough, I use it for every hunt. Spent 20 days elk hunting in CO plus countless other hunts and it's in perfect condition

Sitka Hudson Bay. Legit.

Same, couple buddies and I made the leap to this jacket two seasons back from all sorts of Drake, banded, etc. etc. that's anything but cheapy brands.

Haven't looked back, and won't. Hate all you want, was tired of getting wet and cold.

All of them will leak if you hunt exposed in the rain all day, except a grease coat. Even then you end up wet somehow from wicking around the neck and cuff openings.

If I know it is going to be an all day event- Tin Cloth. Cold? Add another layer which gets bulky fast. If it is just showers on and off, Sitka and a couple premium priced brands are way more comfortable to wear and will do the job for many hours worth of rain.
