Well that’s it — moving the family out of Orleans.

I’m done.
For far too long I’ve made excuses or tried to convince myself that the crime, incompetent leadership, and downward spiral of this city weren’t that bad and that things would improve eventually.
My neighbor was carjacked and several cars on our street had windows smashed in recent days, and my neighbor has video that the perpetrators are well armed. He’s moving out too.
Still no cohesive direction from our “leaders” since they’re too busy blaming each other for this mess. I love this city, or what it was, but life is too short and too precious to risk any more time in this shithole, so we’re out.
Peace out Nola, please wait until we’re gone to burn the place down.

I love New Orleans but it’s basically impossible to defend at this point.
Leadership there is a total failure and there’s far too much pride and arrogance involved to admit it’s all wrong. I’ve been in Jefferson Parish for a few years but always thought I would return uptown at some point, but I don’t see a path to that right now. I want my parents out of Lakeview too, but they’re stubborn as can be.

Have family in Cenla I think we’re going to go stay with while we figure it out. They’ve been begging us to get out so they’ve welcomed us there for now.

I have a good friend that has a house on the Mardi Gras parade route that has an open house every year for all of the parades. Talked to him yesterday and told him that I probably won’t be coming down for any parades this year. Not worth to get my windows busted in parking on the streets.
