re: Team medal ceremony for figure skating postponed due to inquiry

sounds like a non performing enhancing drug. Guesses are weight loss diuretics or puberty blocker. But I think the issue is she is in a group of protected persons due to her age where the punishment is not as bad. Thought being she doesn't know better. So I am sure the arguement is whether the team should be dq'd or not due to her status.

I dont see why any russian team should be given any leeway.

I also think there are way more clean sports in the Winter Olympics with essentially no PED use like curling, freestyle snowboarding and skiing, and figure skating, where PEDs are not nearly as beneficial as they would be in weightlifting, track and field, MMA, etc.
I imagine it could be advantageous for recover reasons for skiers and snowboarders who get injured though. Especially skiers, they seem to have ligament issues all the time.

That could change the medal standings.
If it's one of the ROC skaters who participated in the team event, then she will be disqualified. If so, then I assume that the US would win the team event.

Issue is that she is under 16. They have special protection against auto dq for cheating. Basically citing they are too young to know better. Probably why there is a delay.

They shouldn’t be competing at all. It’s like when a business gets a bad rating from the BBB, so they just change their name and keep going. Between the ROC and watching ski events with nuclear power plants in the background, this whole Olympic experience is a joke.

Looks like it is Valieva with heart medication like some of y'all were saying. So does this DQ the entire Russian team?

So does this DQ the entire Russian team?
I don't give a shite if she's 10, 16, or 30. Russian athletes have been shown grace by the governing bodies. DQ her and as I've said before, enforce a "hard ban" on Russia and its athletes during the '24/'26 Games. Enough is enough.

I get wanting the hammer because it’s Russia. But these tests that pick up legitimate medications go too far - it should have to be something glaring like tren/dbol etc.

Chest pain meds for a 15 year old athlete for a legit reason? I find that hard as shite to believe.

This whole thing really sucks!
I like these three Russian ladies. Very pretty. Their dance so elegant.
Not sure how the pain medicine is helping them in the figure skating.

it says it can be used by athletes to improve physical efficiency, especially in the case of endurance sports.
so stupid of Russia to do this. a 15 year old should not be taking this unless necessary. and if so, then maybe they should have applied for some sort of waiver? seems like they were purposely cheating again?

It sounds like a figure skater taking this drug is just as much of a PED as the shite T&F dopers put into their bodies. (Especially when you think back to the bullshite suspension of Richardson last summer.) The fact that it was flagged before should have been reason enough for her not to skate until she was cleared. This falls at the feet of the ROC and Bach. DQ the team, send her home, and go through due process before dropping the hammer on the ROC and all of their athletes for '24 and '26. Bach needs to go too.

Why is she allowed to compete testing positive for a banned substance before the Olympics, but Shacarri Richardson couldn't compete because she smoked some legal weed?
Both are banned, be consistent...

The thing is, there is not supposed to BE a "Russian team". That was the whole purpose of the penalty. No Russian team for 6 years yet the IOC is letting them compete under a different name. One which somehow includes the word "Russian"... INDIVIDUALS were supposed to be allowed to compete under no flag whatsoever. There should not be an "ROC" line on the medals list. They flaunt it anyway and the IOC looks the other way. Do they share office space with the NCAA?

It really is ridiculous to the point of being comical.
ROC shouldn't be a thing, they shouldn't have been able to walk at the opening ceremonies, etc, but the IOC has less balls and legitimacy than the WHO and is more corrupt than FIFA.

I mean the chick is amazing either way.
Personally I think WADA is a pain in the arse and just want to see the absolute peak of human potential.

God I hate the capricious and customized nature if judging figure skating and gymnastics. Their point systems and scoring legitimately piss me off, and that’s all NBC shows.
Show some other (real) sports.

Kamila Valieva deserves a double gold. Really hope she gets it.
