I have never seen a man so calm in the face of imminent death, except maybe Ethan Hunt.

Without watching the video……

Was he doing something for attention on social media?

It's too bad this bad guy in Austin Powers didn't have the same time to react.

He slid maybe 10’, down a gradual slope. Not exactly the hair raising experience from your thread title.

Meh, not that exciting.

Save everyone some time. Type "gif" in front of the Youtube link and create a gif.

I don't think so.

I think his sleeping gear pack on his left side likely saved him from tipping over that side. It slid perfectly in the path groove

It's why I referenced the Austin Powers steamroller bit.

Because he used his axe fast enough.

Yup. I think he lands outside that walked path and it's pretty much over for him.

I clicked expecting more. He hadn't even started to pick up speed.

He literally just slid a few feet down the trail he was walking on. Highly anticlimactic

Textbook use of ice ax to self arrest.

Probably not in the top 5 most dangerous moments of their climb but makes for good social media clickbait.

Bigger question is how do these 4 year old videos randomly go viral again years later?
