What % of Fired NFL HC’s Immediately Get New HC Jobs?

Race aside for a minute, how common is it for a fired head coach to get another head coaching job right out of the gate? Usually they take a lower level job such as a coordinator or position coach and then work their way back up. I can’t think of a case where a newly fired head coach waltzed over to a new team and took over. Any examples that come to mind?

Jimmy Johnson is the first name that came to mind. Of course, he was fresh off of a SB win.

Think Flores had a great shot until he nuked it.

Usually they go to the Saban Coaching Rehabilitation Clinic.

Herm Edwards went immediately from the Jets to the Chiefs but I guess he wasn't really fired.

Kingsbury deserves an honorable mention here m. He failed at TX Tech and got an NFL gig immediately after being fired.

This was the most shocking to me. Guy was fired for being mediocre as a college coach and goes straight to the top of the big leagues.

few, but majority get another coaching job.
once you get that title, like ceo in business, you can fail for another 2 decades

The man, the legend himself, Jeff Fisher took a couple years off but his next job after the Titans was the soon-to-be-Los Angeles Rams.
His unmatched knowledge of relocations was needed at such a crucial moment in time and he is 100% responsible for drafting the team that McVay took to the Super Bowl a few years later.
