Belichick was hired by the Patriots immediately after leaving the Jets.

Because the Jets had to give the Pats a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and cash for Parcells

Neither logic nor common sense are allowed in any discussion regarding the perceived wronging of black people.

Race aside for a minute, how common is it for a fired head coach to get another head coaching job right out of the gate? Usually they take a lower level job such as a coordinator or position coach and then work their way back up. I can’t think of a case where a newly fired head coach waltzed over to a new team and took over. Any examples that come to mind?

Plenty if you accept talking about a gap year in between. In fact, who was the last head coach that became a position coach?

The man, the legend himself, Jeff Fisher took a couple years off but his next job after the Titans was the soon-to-be-Los Angeles Rams.

Rex Ryan, mike McCarthy

doubt he was the last, but when the Chargers fired Mike Riley, he became a DB coach for the Saints the following year

Was 20 years ago, he had an AHC title and had never been a pro coordinator…

I think this thread effectively dismissed the premise that coaches go that far backwards. Some go back to coordinator, sone get another crack at HC immediately… mike Riley and Freddie kitchens became a position coach
