Make no mistake, these kids are now getting paid (in the open) and are receiving a salary to play.

In order to retain competitiveness, NCAA is going to have to level the playing field with a salary cap.

A salary cap would not violate the NIL law. It would be a requirement to participate in intercollegiate athletics much like MLB, NFL, etc.

Further, a NCAA salary cap would hold up in the court of law the same as it has in MLB, NFL, etc.

This has to be done.

And, can’t wait to see what happens to A&Ms roster as soon as it’s implemented.

How do you cap it, the schools aren't paying the money. I don't know if the NIL deals even have to be reported to the NCAA.

Colleges have to come together and agree to this. Of course aTm will disagree but colleges with strong NIL bases are few.

Colleges would have to come together and make the rules. If you break the rules then you are free to go play in another league. Free market still applies.

It would essentially go back to the old system of funneling money. Don't think we really want to know what was really going on there.

Rules have changed and NCAA has to adapt.

These kids getting W2s or 1099s or something similar.

NCAA needs to have student athletes submit and aggregate. Make it a condition of participation.

Otherwise NCAA would be only major US sporting outfit without salary limitations.

NIL could be good for competitiveness if managed properly. Could eliminate the under-the-table benefits Alabama and Georgia have been enjoying for years.

That’s Socialist Talk. Only the richest win. It’s as American as baseball. A luxury tax, maybe. No caps. Ever.

Under the table payment has been going on forever. NIL was not intended to be pay for play but that's all it has turned into. About 6-7 schools will outspend everyone and the rest of college football can only watch it. If people at the top truly care about the health of the sport long term, they need to step in and set some guidelines. Otherwise, fans are going to just stop giving a shite.

Kiffin is the only coach who calls out all this BS. College football has pretty much l been ruined due to pathetic leadership at the top. Worse. I’ve never been in favor of the feds coming in on anything but they probably need to come in on this.

Ive been saying this from the get go...you cap it per player...they have to submit there earnings every year just like taxes....now granted this isnt fool proof because those numbers can be fudged but its a starting point

Dude. Have you not seen Saban’s comments on this? If he’s for NIL restrictions, you can bet your arse something is going to happen.

And they’ve been sliding in popularity and relevance in recent decades. People want to go into a season believing that their smaller and mid-market teams have a shot, which they do in the NFL and NBA.

This is a job for the Federal Government/IRS. Taxes and the power of the purse can do anything.

Yes it would.

Do you think the NFL could institute a salary cap for players' endorsements?
