SIAP. Searched and didn't see much.

Excited to get the season going. Do we know what our lineup is going to look like? Obviously several spots locked down but seems like there will be a lot of new names.

C - Milazzo? Hoping one of the new guys is a better option
1b - Morgan
2b - Doughty
SS - Thompson (assuming he's ready by the opener)
3b - Berry? Does he play here or DH?
LF - Dugas
CF - DiGiacomo? A lot of options here
RF - Crews
DH - Tons of options here too. Assuming we'll have a platoon approach here unless someone really separates from the pack

Interested to know if there are any additions to the above at any position to look out for.

Isn't there a poster who usually does a position by position breakdown before the season?

I am sure Berry will DH some, but he will be the primary third basemen.

Would not be surprised to see this lineup in one of the 3 games opening weekend

C - McManus
1b - Beloso
2b - Doughty
SS - Thompson/Merrifield if Thompson is still out
3b - Berry
LF - Dugas
CF - Morgan
RF - Crews
DH - Jobert/Pearson/Drost/Stevenson

ETA: just so many options. If you keep tre at 1st, that opens up a second outfield spot for Stevenson, Drost, Pearson, or Gio. Then if Berry is at 3rd, all of the above plus Beloso could work in at DH. if you put Milazzo behind the plate, does McManus give you the best bat at DH and keep him in the lineup? Does Travinski break into the DH spot as the season goes on? If berry is at DH, do you put Doughty at 3rd and give 2nd to Bianco/Merrifield?

Gonna be ALOT of lineup movement before conference play.

This team is so fricking stacked offensively

There will be no set "starting" lineup for a few games at the beginning of the season! Plenty combinations and substitutions will be made for a few games, so it's all about playing time and not "starting"!

I'm sure Morgan would be great in CF but he's so valuable at 1b.

He saved a ton of runs for us last year by making incredible plays.

If memory serves, Thompson had a lot of throws last year that would have been missed by an average 1b. I'd like to see Morgan stay there.

Morgan has been playing a lot of outfield in the scrimmages. He may be a great defensive first basemen for college, but no pro team will play him at first base. Coach Johnson is likely giving him some work in the outfield to:
A) help him for the future
B) see if we can find another serviceable first basemen to give us another bat in the lineup with Morgan. We have Crews and Dugas, but one outfield spot is wide open for competition.

I tried to explain this to someone yesterday and they thought I was crazy to think that a coach would do something that could greatly help a young man further his professional aspirations.

I told the guy he was an idiot and let it go.

I'm fine with experimenting with Morgan in CF.

Just hoping they don't put Beloso in at 1b if they do.

Beloso career BA of .263. Career OBP of .366.
Hasn't hit for power at all since 2019. Offers nothing on the base paths. Average in the field.

What's special about him? Think he gets a lot of leeway because he's a program guy who seems to be well liked.

Doughty is likely your SS if Thompson isn't playing.

Some liked chunky Beloso. Few liked skinnier Beloso. I think the intrigue is his solid freshman year coupled with Jay's guidance.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him play there for some midweek games against some opponents that aren't as strong. But unless someone steps up as a first baseman I don't think you can afford to put him elsewhere, though I do think his professional career will require him in the outfield. Coach JJ will try to help him at the next level, but first and foremost needs to win games.

If there isn't someone else on this roster that can't play first base without solely losing games then we have a problem.

No one will be Morgan, but no one at LSU ever has been

But c’mon, playing 1B isn’t rocket science,
