Gumbo Tips and Tricks
Posted by I10 Bengal on 11/22/24 at 1:13 pm
The weather has finally cooled off here in South LA and a gumbo is in order.
I have made a very traditional chicken and sausage gumbo for many years. It is always well received. But I wanted to see if anyone had any particular ingredients they add/technique they use that they've found to make their gumbo even better.
I do a standard homemade roux with 1 cup flour to 3/4 cup oil ratio. I use all chicken thighs - no breast and cook in the same pot. Part smoked sausage. Part andouille. I dice a pack of Tasso ham to brown and add as well.
What are your best tips?

Gage Jump - Injury Updates?
Posted by I10 Bengal on 2/14/24 at 12:32 pm
Seeing speculation that Jump is injured. Anyone heard any more specifics?
Looks like he was very lightly used in Spring. Hopefully it is just a case of the staff working him back in slowly.

re: Chimes Lafayette - Construction Update

the interior structure/framing and exterior construction (bricks) have obviously been completed. Appears electrical wiring has also been done as I see lights on at night. Construction laborers may have floated the sheetrock and painted walls. As suggested above, probably a delay in getting certain industrial grade appliances, lighting fixtures, and special ordered items due to product manufacturing delays. I thought their goal was to open around June 1
The June-ish opening target was my understanding as well. I just find it odd that there is never any construction labor there anymore.
The outside is not finished (painting, etc.). I would figure that could still continue even if they are having trouble with other supplies.
Chimes Lafayette - Construction Update
Posted by I10 Bengal on 4/18/23 at 10:35 am
Has anyone heard an update on the Chimes being built in Lafayette? For several months the construction was quickly coming along. Now it seems as though it has grinded to a halt. I drive by regularly and there has not been any progress or even any sign of workers on site. Very strange. Wondering if they hit some kind of snag with permitting, etc.
re: Baseball Ticket Availability

Thanks.
From what I can tell, there are no types of tickets available for sale on the site right now.
Trying to be there when the line opens!

Looking forward to some Tiger baseball.
Does anyone know when single game tickets will go on sale through the LSU website?

Great information.
Does anyone have more concrete information about Noot? Is he hurt?

Does anyone have a shrimp etouffee recipe that they would recommend? I searched the F&D Board Cookbook and did not see any.

Does anyone have any specifics on his back injury? I have not seen much other than he's working his way back.
Baseball Coaching Hires - Any Updates
Posted by I10 Bengal on 6/24/22 at 10:19 am
SIAP.
Listening to the "Scone and T" podcast - Moscona's opinion is that the pitching coach will be Christian Ostrander from USM. After seeing their staff this year, I think that would be a good hire. Granted I knew nothing about him prior to our series with them.
Texas fired Sean Allen. It seemed like he was doing a pretty good job there. Not sure if he's under consideration.
Have not heard or seen anything about potential candidates to replace Fitzgerald. Any names being floated?

re: SEC Baseball POTY Race

Sonny seems to be a popular choice here.
My only rebuttal would be that this award seems to favor home run totals for the winner.
That said, Sonny has a massive BA lead. Should be fun to see it play out over the next 3 weeks.

SEC Baseball POTY Race

Where does this stand as of now? IMO, there hasn't been a pitcher dominant enough to win it this year.
Candidates:
Trey Lipscomb (UT) - .357/.428/.780, 18 HR, 65 RBI
Sonny DiChiara (AU) - .436/.597/.842, 13 HR, 40 RBI
Jacob Berry (LSU) - .377/.464/.680, 15 HR, 45 RBI
Those seem to be the favorites right now. I'd give Lipscomb the edge based on what Tennessee has accomplished.
Others who could make a push: Dylan Crews, Dominic Keegan, Jud Fabian, Drew Gilbert

Thanks. I had not seen that. Hopefully he can get back to full strength this year.
Tre Morgan Injury Status?
Posted by I10 Bengal on 4/28/22 at 1:05 pm
Just wondering if anyone has heard anything specific about what his injury is. He's put his leg in a few awkward situations this year most notably last weekend.
Been wearing the hefty brace on his leg. He was DH'ing instead and not playing 1b on Tuesday. It's clearly impacting his ability to run.
Hate that he's not at full strength but since he's playing through it I am assuming its pain tolerance issue.
Any insight or updates from Jay that I missed?

Baseball - Hosting Chances
Posted by I10 Bengal on 4/25/22 at 9:32 am
Still a touch early for this but what does this team need to do to close out the year to be in a position to host?
RPI is up to 16 per D1 Baseball. Sitting at 10 SEC wins. Last year, UF got to host with 17 SEC wins.
Seems like 17 would be the number to have us in serious contention? That means they'd have to close out going 7-5 vs. UGA (#5 RPI), at Bama (#42 RPI), vs. OM (#64 RPI), and at Vandy (#8 RPI).
Not sure how this field of potential regional hosts stacks up to last years.
