An incredibly small pool of people, I will use race and gender as the first qualifiers for narrowing down who I will select…leading to an even smaller pool of people and ignoring many very qualified people for no reason at all other than their race and gender.

What the frick kindof sense does this make?

I think this is a violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

I mean you know it’s going to happen, but why say it? I can’t believe this guy is so dumb to scream”I’m a racist “, but it’s somehow ok as a Democrat

I guess they don’t want to “right the wrong” and put Merrick Garland in there. Maybe he should identify as a black woman.

But were you clutching your pearls when Reagan did it? When Trump did it? If you did, great you are consistent and not hypocritical. But if you didn't then just be aware of your own confirmation bias.

And my personal take- appointing a qualified black woman is good for our country-- representation does matter. Do I wish he would have just done it without the promise to do so? Sure. But that's politics and there are examples from both political parties.

Shouldn't that be an insult to both women and blacks?

Don't care how smart you may be .....are you a woman and are you black? What if the black woman they choose says she identifies as a Black Panther Male?

I needed a draftsperson and decided it would be a woman. Do you think for a moment I would advertise "must be a woman?"

Later I needed a new account assistant. That position would handle international accounts. Specifically Latin America. Got down to two candidates. One was Hispanic. We got a message from the company she was working for.
"As much as we desire for her to leave ....we warn you, she is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Don't hire her."

Putting an ad in the paper today to hire a new employee. I think I'll put on the first line "White Males Only". We'll see how that works out.

But seriously, if you're a white guy who owns a business hire white males only because that's about the only way white guys can get a good job anymore. They're being excluded from every other job out there in the name of diversity.

In all seriousness though, that's kind of the backlash all.tgis crazy race baiting stuff will lead to. White people who own businesses taking care of their own because society is excluding them.

But then didn't it seem that "gender" was at least of equal consideration to qualifications for the last appointee by Trump.

When we could've had W.H. Pryor, Jr. - reportedly a strict constructionist - instead of the unreliable, wavering, pretentious social posturer from Orleans with the hyphenated name.

Or, Judge J. Pirro filling both wants.

Probably an entertaining, fractious series of confirmation hearings that move would've stirred up.

But it would've been another "test" for the Repubs on how much they were willing to extend or compromise themselves by fighting for the President's nominee.

On the Court she would've been in position to occasionally aggravate and yank at Roberts' undescended gonads.
