Look, as amazing as Kramer was. When you really sit with it and meditate on it all. Did Kramer ever do anything that could top the realistic absurdity of the big salad or George's man crush on Tony? Or how about George's need to be seen putting money in the tip jar.

Oh and for Christ's sake. What about when George ate the eclair out of the garbage can.

"Oh, Tony. Please don't". That was one of the saddest, most pathetically funny things I've ever heard uttered in TV or movies.

I'm team George here people.

I think George is consider the best character on the show, generally speaking.

I think they all brought pretty equal value to the show really.

ETA: including Jerry

Well, George was the more visible, pertinent character to the show and had way more screen time than Kramer. To me, all the characters were very self-centered, but George took it to another level.

Kramer's talent was more linked to his physicality with his quirky gestures and his over the top delivery of his lines in so many episodes.

That said, I probably got way more laughs out of Kramer's limited screen time than George's-----but I was a big fan of "The Three Stooges" growing up and always found slapstick funny.

It was easier to do what Richards did as Kramer (although he is a singular physical comedy talent) than it was for what Alexander did as George. Kramer was a fire and forget weapon - comic relief within a comedy. The "friendly" Newman, although Kramer certainly had extended scenes, at times, he was generally reserved for use in measured doses.

George was Jerry's dark, sad reflection and was not only in many scenes, had to carry them almost by himself, over and over. He had to be the clown without being explicitly clownish. It is a very fine line before drifting into parody. Jason Alexander should get more credit for the show's success than he does.

George drives the show, big facts. He’s front and center in some of the best scenes in the show’s history.

- Running out of the bathroom screaming “say Vandelay!”
- I WAS IN THE POOL
- getting the toupee ripped off and tossed out the window by Elaine
- Reeling in the marble rye

I could go on and on

Isn’t George based on Larry David? So if you like Curb you like George.

Every scene with George and his parents are better than just about every scene without. When you rewatch a show and you remember George is about to be with his parents you get excited, because you know it's about to get hilarious. Best dynamic of the show to me.

Without Alexander the show is REALLY a show about nothing.

Kramer was funnier. Probably the best physical comedy on modern television (unless you count Farley on SNL).

George was probably the better character as a whole. He's basically the lead of the show and Jerry was just the glue that brought all of these people together in one place.
