I Still do not understand recruiting numbers

T a&m took 26 in 2020. 24 in 2021. Has 27 now, and looking to add perkins and Stewart. That’s 29.
Bama classes always about like this same situation.
What happened to the “hard 25 cap”? And why does LSU never ever wind up with 26, much less 29?

We can sign 32. It’s that simple.

If you do not lose 7 to portal, you will have to proses players to get the full 32.
But the 32 can come from HS,JUCO or Portal, it does not matter.

I don’t understand how Bama and now A&M can over sign but nobody else can. I understand you can back count if you under sign, but Bama never under signs. They take every player they want….

This recruiting class is 25 plus (up to) 7. That’s a total of up to 32, which can be incoming freshmen, JUCO, or transfers in any combination the school prefers.

Literally a bookmarked explanation for you on this board. You have up to 7 extra slots this year. For example we have had 7 people transfer/ process out so we can sign the full allotment of 32 players, whether that be 32 transfers or 32 HS kids or any combination of the sort. It’s that simple.

There are two things going on:
This year, you have the temporary waiver that allows schools to sign up to 7 additional players to replace transfers. If you want to understand that waiver, check the signing limit waiver sticky.
On top of that, there are several exceptions/loopholes that exist during normal years. The most notable ones are:
- An early enrollees can count against either the current academic year or the next year. So if LSU recruits an EE who enrolls in January 2022, they can either count against the 2021 signing limit or the 2022 signing limit. That means that if a team only takes 22 one year, they can take 28 the following year by “back counting” 3 early enrollees.
- A player’s financial aid can be delayed until after the fall semester. This usually means they enroll part-time (paying their own way) or they take classes at a community college in the fall. The player can’t play or practice during that fall semester. It’s not exactly a great practice and usually happens to a lesser player when a school oversigns. Commonly known as “greyshirting,” this allows the school to count the player against the following year’s signing limit. Example: LSU has 26 commits against a hard cap of 25 for the 2022 signing class. One player is asked to greyshirt, so they enroll in the spring and count against the 2023 signing class instead.
I think most of the time when you see a team with 28 signees, it’s because they are back counting scholarships. This can go on for multiple years. Say a school has the following number if signees each year:
2017: 23
2018: 24
2019: 25
2020: 27
2021: 26
If you just looked at the 2019-2021 classes you would go “what the hell??” But in reality the classes look like this:
2017: 25 (23 + 2 2018 EE’s)
2018: 25 (22 + 3 2019 EE’s)
2019: 25 (22 + 3 2020 EE’s)
2020: 25 (24 + 1 2021 EE)
2021: 25
You just need enough early enrollees each year to keep maxing out the previous year’s signing limit.

“hard 25 cap”
This has never been a thing. When the recruiting rules were changed a few years ago, it was widely misreported that there was a "hard cap". This is totally untrue.
The NCAA has never taken away the ability of schools to use spots left over from the previous recruiting class to early enrollees in the following class.
LSU always has a "hard cap" because our coaching staff couldn't resist using every spot every year.
That said, this has zero bearing on this year. Pretty much everyone can take 32, with the only caveat being they had 7 guys leave the program who would have been eligible to play in the fall of 2022.

Well how bout this, I will tell LSU and Brian kelly to sign 32 recruits this 2022 season. Will that make y9u sit down and be happy. Understand that one. If you worry bout whatever everyone else is doing, how will lsu ever fix whatever problems, issues they need to fix. Comprende ?

The 7 transfers is new this year right?
How did The TAMUs and Bamas sign over 25 in previous seasons. The answer is obvious this year, I think confusion is about the past

aTm could actually take 33 this year if they can qualify for the 7 additional slots for transfer replacements. As you said they took 24 last year so they can take 26 this year and add a potential 7 transfer replacements... 33

Prove it. Go ahead , you raised the allegation so tell us why. You are not original, but like every one before you still wrong. All schools have the same rules whether its Alabama, LSU, Syracuse, Clemson, Iowa State or whomever. Its absurd this keeps coming up.
