Who was your Commander-In-Chief when you first took your oath and upon your ETS date?

Richard Nixon was President when I took my oath and entered the Army, but Gerald Ford assumed the presidency a few months later due to Nixon resigning.
I wouldn't have liked Joe Biden as my Commander-In-Chief and I have to wonder if the military is split much like the country is in their political views at the present time.

Bush then Obama. I got out after 9 years while Obama was in.

The direction was turning to shite back then. Fat women telling me what to do. Nah, I am good....

Bill Clinton

When I got out, nobody liked serving under Clinton. You couldn’t openly discuss it, but everybody knew. There was a general air of hostility coming from the administration towards the military.

USMC. 1968-73 LBJ - Nixon . Everything was a shitstorm and a blur for me. Never did realize how much I loved it until later on in life. Would never do the same thing today with the present environment as it is.

Enlistment Bush 41
ETS. Clinton

The only thing I remember having to do with politics was “Don’t ask, don’t tell” being the punchline of everything and having a Memorandum of Record (or whatever the official designation was)read to a us in formation one morning about not telling jokes about the CIC (Clinton). Weakest shite I ever heard.

Not a Veteran, but as a VA provider I haven’t noticed much of a split. Almost all Vets I encounter lean Right.

Obama, Trump, and the idiot we have now.

I had to get out because the military continues to promote being woke before being combat effective/ready/trained. I think the Marines are still the least divided. The Navy has gone completely woke.

We had sailors at my last command who waddled around because they were so overweight. These sailors could not pass a PRT and somehow, they were considered combat ready. Meanwhile, sailors who max out PRT scores who have not been vaccinated are somehow not combat ready.

Reagan - Bush I. No, actually Reagan - Reagan. Bush wasn't sworn in until 89, I was discharged in 88. US Navy 82 - 88.

Carter in 77, but I was 17, stupid, and just wanted the hell out of East Feliciana parish. Retired early in 95 with Uncle Bill running the show. Reagan was easily the best I ever served under. That guy was inspiring.
