In January of 1991 you have the infamous 3rd quarter run by Bo Jackson down the sideline and he gets tackled from behind by the Bengals and has a career ending injury in football.

At the time the Bengals were just 2 years removed from a Super Bowl appearance. They would go on to become one of the worst franchises in the NFL and not make the playoffs again until 2005. Their last playoff win was against the Oilers in January of 1991, the week before the Raiders game.

Fast forward to 2005. The Bengals finish as the 3rd best team in the AFC and win the AFC North behind two year starter Carson Palmer.

The 2005 Bengals are heavily favored and face off against the Steelers. The 2nd play of the game Carson Palmer drops back and throws a 66 yard pass to Chris Henry. The pass is completed, but Carson Palmer gets hit in the leg and is carted off the field with an ACL type injury.

The Steelers would go on to win the Super Bowl that season as well as another Super Bowl win 3 seasons later. The Bengals currently have the longest drought of no playoff wins in the NFL at 31 seasons.

Will Joe Burrow be able to beat the Raiders today and end the curse?

Raiders haven’t won a playoff game since 2002 I believe. Give me Big Dick Joe and the Bengals today.

He said he’ll only smoke them after a championship win. Last week won them the division.

Mike Brown inheriting the team in 1991 is the reason for their demise.

The only way to break the curse is by doing the Ickey Shuffle.

I remember that play very well.

You could see Palmer get hit right at the knees and knew it was bad before the announcers even mentioned it.

I'm not sure why I received so many down votes for this topic. I just posted there was an ongoing curse.

It's not a real thing. We Bengals fans don't even talk about it with any meaningful legitimacy.

This is Joe's team and here in 4 hours well be advancing to next weekend.

Joe Burrow probably doesn't even know who the frick Bo Jackson is. Want to feel old? Bo's last football game was literally almost 6 years before BDJ was even born.

What was the line on this? I feel like Cincy wasn’t a heavy favorite.
