MSNBC and NBC News legal analyst Maya Wiley noted that the Confederacy allowed noncitizens to vote, essentially calling for modern America to be more like the Confederate States – at least when it comes to voting rights.

Wiley argued that "communities of color" would benefit from allowing noncitizens to vote before oddly evoking the group that unsuccessfully fought fellow Americans in order to keep slavery around.

"Even the Confederacy, which at first feared alien suffrage would swell the ranks of abolitionist immigrants, succumbed to immigrant voting to attract workers after the Civil War," she wrote.

In a widely panned speech, Biden asked a crowd in Atlanta on Tuesday whether they were on the side of reviled figures like segregationist Gov. George Wallace and Confederate President Jefferson Davis, or on the side of civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr. and the late John Lewis when pushing the Democrats' election law overhaul bill dubbed the "John Lewis Voting Rights Act."

Plus reasonable Poll TEST - nobody deserves to vote who doesn't know how the constitution defines the role of government.

Constitutional Conventions are the venue for that argument - only.

That was a long time ago. Maybe they should pick a more contemporary happening like Hitler and WWII.

Maya Wiley has decided she wants to be on the side of Jefferson Davis, not Abraham Lincoln.

It's also false according to the CSA constitution
quote:

Sec. 2. (I) The House of Representatives shall be composed of members chosen every second year by the people of the several States; and the electors in each State shall be citizens of the Confederate States, and have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the State Legislature; but no person of foreign birth, not a citizen of the Confederate States, shall be allowed to vote for any officer, civil or political, State or Federal.

Voting is not a inalienable right given by god . It is a earned opportunity that as you know has a legal age and can be taken away . Driving is also such a right as well as hunting and fishing. With driving you are required to take a test and must pass it , would it be expecting to much to be required to take a test to vote ?

I’ve argued for 15-20 years there should be a 5 question test before getting your ballot at the polling station. If you can’t answer 2 out of 5 questions you ain’t voting. The questions would consist of current politics, civics and questions found on a test for citizenship

Does this mean Bobby Lee gets put back on pedestals, or are they just talking out of their collective arses?
