Seems like there’s an effort to bring in a lot of Louisiana born players.

I like it.

I will gladly take him. Always liked him.

Wonder if this has anything to do with Citizen maybe not coming here or if we know another RB might be transferring.

If getting that dude scares him off he can go play at ULL

It’s starting to look more like a strategy. And so far so good!

Hell, might be because our chances are slim with Citizen.
I have to think twice about the dude. Really looks to me like he's gonna go with the biggest bag.

Seems like a depth signing, which is fine. I’m still not sure if Emery plays here again and it’s slim after that.

Not elite but he shores up the RB room with Emery, Kiner, Goodwin, and Bradford

Do not agree with this at all. This guy balled out when he was healthy and was better than Emery. Some bad opinions in this thread.

Think about everything Kelly has said about 1) Louisiana having a lot of talent and needing to utilize that, amd 2) needing to get some guys from the portal this year. It makes perfect sense. You go out and the those Louisiana guys from the portal, and make those future Louisiana recruits feel like they're wanted here. This might go a long way to locking down the state in future recruiting cycles.

I believe that is kelly's number 1 goal in recruiting, which it should be.

I think taking cain has more to do with someone already on the team then it does with citizen.

I thought we picked Emery over him, but Cain was a stud his freshman year.

I was wondering the same thing.

numbers on rosters are always something a recruit looks at. Some hard, some don't really care that much.

If it does, and it is definitely an "if", I think I'd much rather have Citizen.

The flip side of that however is that Citizen is all over the place and is a decommit. You can't count on him- at all.

So the strategically sound thing is to take Cain even if Citizen balks. Citizen's lack of commitment makes his wants moot.

ETA: Didn't Citizen recently release a top 8 schools? This is a couple months after a top 5? So he's "narrowed it down" by adding 3 schools. Yeah, keep recruiting him but don't count on him. Don't even pencil him in a this point, use urine and a cigarette lighter if you want to write him in. All I'm saying is don't let Citizen affect the absolutely necessary portal action, especially this year where the getting is good more than your average year.

I like. I also have question or two? Odds on will transfer and does this mean no Citizen?

There are going to be depth signings. Every player won’t be a star. Too many holes.

That said, Frank got him and Frank is the RB coach. He must see or know something.

Cool, he hasn't been healthy in two years. I watched Penn St a lot this year. It's not an opinion that he wasn't very good this season, but I hope he bounces back. If you're expecting "elite" you're going to be quite disappointed though.

It's ok to be realistic and not sunshine pump everything.

Yeah, sometimes a change of scenery and/or a change in coaches reinvigorates those with some good natural ability.

I'm not expecting that here. It would be a good bonus... but it's not the expectation.

I'm sure Frank has hopes for that. And very likely that was part of their discussion with Frank wanting some promises/commitment in the arena of "effort". Again, I hope that's exactly what happens and we get 2019 Cain.

Great pickup
Cain likely wants a fresh start.
I’d tell Citizen now committ now or drop your wish list to 7!

As he should. Didn’t want to be apart of a crowded back field as a freshman with Emery and Davis. Still made it home.

At worst, he's a another really good upside insurance policy for what we already have in the backfield and potentially adding Citizen. I love it. Should be interesting to see if the rest of the backfield stays.

My guess is the coaching staff is doing its evaluations of the current roster and they don't think they have a good push-the-pile back or a short yardage guy.

Cain does give you that. He isn't a breakaway runner and he's not going to give you a lot of big plays, but he'll get you that first down on 3rd and 1. And with Davis-Price moving on I don't think the staff believes they've got a guy who fits the role.
