To me they taste like a crunchy green bean. A little S&P with olive oil in a pan and they are delicious.
Yes, I've always direct sowed in the garden and have had good success. I just saved the seeds from last year and had 100% germ rate.

I haven't frozen any seeds before but I have and do vacuum seal them. Haven't had any stored long enough to attest to their viability over time.

Oh ok, I thought you were talking about freezing the pods to cook with later.
I just kept my seeds in a ziploc in a fridge and they did fine.

Anyone had any luck getting rid of leafhoppers? They're doing work on my pepper plants.

Yes, they are a pole bean so they need something to grow up. They grow very fast too. I topped mine at 6.5-7 ft.

Looks like I'm going to have to grow those next year. I love beans but haven't ventured down the path of growing them yet. This was my first year with above ground beds so I went crazy with a bunch of tomatoes

Came outside and noticed a massive amount of leaves have fallen off my banana pepper plants. Looks like they've got dark brown spots and are yellowing. Some of my tomato plant leaves are doing the same. Someone recommended using a dawn soap mixture to fight aphids and I sprayed the other day. Did I just murder all my plants?

Today’s harvest. Kids missed a few squash yesterday. We’re picking about a gallon ziplock of green beans every couple of days. Squash are surprisingly still producing even though the borers got in them and powdery mildew is winning the battle.

I used dawn to spray my plants a couple weeks ago and it yellowed/browned pretty much every spot I sprayed so I will never do that again

Ok... Novice gardener here. I have enjoyed the garden we planted. Squash plants took up more room than expected. Zipper peas are going everywhere and blooming. Tomatoes are doing well about to start getting some ripe ones. My squash problems have been powdery mildew and cucumber worms in the fruit. It appears we have some army worms hitting the tomatoes. Initially used milk and water mix for the mildew but not really successful. Just treated the whole garden with Neem Oil. Any other suggestions?

Patiently waiting on these Black Krim. We had 3 inches of rain last night with more on the way. I’m hoping they don’t split. If not that, I’m fully expecting some other kind of natural disaster to occur that will prevent me from picking these.

Something keeps chewing the watermelon vines. Guess it’s mice from the grown up squash and bean plants. Squash are coming out Saturday. Plan to mow around garden, spray the fence perimeter, and put some rodent bait out. Any ideas or recs? Pissing of my daughter as she babies the melons and then they get about the size of a football and the vine gets cut/bitten.
