Very good post. I have had this really sick feeling in my stomach that this is the end of what I grew up loving in college football. It probably is. I will always be a staunch fan either way but it will not be the same.

No you aren't older. Or either you have never had the work ethic or character of your peers...which is possible. This shite is terrible for college football.

Once the passion is gone, it is easy to replace. I used to love the NFL. Will never watch again and miss it none.

Is 2022 bc the same as 2022 ac?

You're not alone and we are seeing the beginning of what happens when you put 18 yr. olds in charge of their present and future. I lost count of how many times I changed my mind at that age. The NCAA should be ashamed of themselves. The parents of these kids should be equally ashamed. I trust that BK will not only recruit talent but also character. The 2019 Natty came out of no where. At least I didn't see it coming. Brighter days are on the horizon! ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Icongeauxtigers.png)

I agree with you, brother. How can I feel loyalty to a team that has players who don't have loyalty to it?
Players used to play until they were seniors. Now they're "opting out" after a year or two. I root for you this year, then root against you next year. It's bullshite.
We'll always have the magical 2019 season, the last real season until the sport was ruined.

now that tax season is here I'm curious to see how these kids have prepared for that with their newfound NIL $$

Sorry I must have missed your exemption statement about 2019. It happens. Life moves on...

Thanks for assuring me there are older folks than me!
And as far as my work ethic, well it provided for an early retirement--that's why I'm able to post here at 3:30 on a Thursday afternoon. Geaux damn Tigers!

I’m 53 and feel exactly the same way you feel. Life long LSU fan. With almost 500 upvotes to almost 50 down votes, looks like the majority of us agree. It’s not fun anymore. It’s pro sports now and I have no interest in this brand. No passion, no guts, no loyalty. It’s about money, it’s about stroking egos, it’s about drama queens wanting the spotlight. We are letting the inmates run the asylum. I’m not completely done but but it won’t be long.

Agree100% the game I grew up loving is gone.

How is Bobby Hebert and Morten Anderson traitors?
Posted on 1/6/22 at 3:40 pm to tbabino
I agree with the OP 100%. The culture has changed from team to me. I agree that players should get a piece of the pie, but not like this. It’s like the Wild West now. Ok, I’m taking bids from all schools. Money is all that matters. School and team loyalty mean nothing. Unless it is changed college football is done. This social justice crap has gone way too far. Not only is it destroying the sports we love, it’s destroying our country.

I can agree with much of your rant, as a fellow old-timer, but...
You are completely missing the mark when you say " the entitlement attitudes these kids are raised with"-
These kids have played college ball under whatever parameters and restrictions the system placed on them, since the game was invented-
if you want to blame someone for corrupting the game, start with the fat cat boosters who have been bribing teenagers to play for the college they represent, the coaches getting them passing grades in classes they fail, the free meals, free pussy, free cars, free everything thrown at them, the agents, the NFL team owners, the TV network money, etc, etc.... Those kids were the LAST to be tainted and corrupted by the money involved....
No one ever learns to behave as if they're entitled without being treated that way. "These kids" didn't corrupt the game; the game corrupted them.

At least now the corruption has been made OK.....it's still corrupt except now there is no penalty....sort of like Lehman Bros. helping to take down an entire economy

Conman23, what makes you think this won't happen in baseball also?

But this NIL crap is the end of college football as we all know it. And it ain't good. Honestly, it ain't good for the athletes, either. It further ingrains the entitlement mentality that these kids are raised in, and coddled with, from middle school.
I bleed purple and gold. I am an alumnus. I am on the faculty of the LSU-HSC system. I am fully invested. I was a season ticket holder for 23 years. I just care much less these days about college football than I ever thought I would.
First time that's ever happened.
Just checked the score at halftime and after the game.
It's a shame. I rarely used to miss a snap, and often, I'd rewatch the game on Sun/Mon and break down individual plays/scheme.
I miss the good old days.
