f you’re adjusting your level of fandom based on anything involving the Texas Bowl then don’t even try to convince me you’re some big fan of LSU.

I'm younger than you and feel the same way.
Between NIL making college recruiting nothing but a bidding war, the transfer portal, and the rising costs of attending a watered down version of what gamedays on campus used to be, I just don't have as much passion for it.

You definitely hit the nail on the head. But I’m gonna remain focused on what Coach Kelly can do with this team moving forward. I’m very excited to see what he can do and I’ll try to block out all the noise. Hang in there buddy, I have a really good feeling about Coach Kelly and our chances of recruiting better, training better, overall organizational improvement.

It’s a mess, but I think it’s wrong to blame the players and their “entitlement”, whatever that means, in any way. They have the least power in all of this.
Blame the schools, the NCAA, the coaches, the media .. that’s who has the power and who has f*ked this up.
The players are just reacting to the cluster of a system they are presented with and doing what people do, which is to take what’s available to them. Turning this into a moral judgement of the players makes no sense.

Point still stands. So do the fans by opting out of a shitty, tainted product.

Some people just don’t like seeing how the sausage is made.
Just bookmark this for when LSU is winning again.
These guys won’t be on here telling you it’s not the same knowing our LB got some money.

Weed is a lot more ok than alcohol. The only people who make statements like this have never partaken in order to understand the superiority of weed.

I don’t see how NIL can continue. It has ruined college football.
Fixed for you.

I believe college football’s golden age is over too. The NIL and this pseudo-professional environment will hurt it. The only thing keeping college alive is attendance revenue and the lack of a minor league that will pay players. College football attendance is waning. It’s just a matter of time that it wanes enough that an NFL minor league becomes a good alternative to showcase talent.
Ask yourself…do your children follow college football with as much passion as you? Some do, but my perspective is that most don’t. Even college students don’t really appreciate the game. They only attend to be with their friends and leave at half time to go to the main event (the hangout spot on campus).

The players just haven’t been getting compensated.
I'm assuming that either you didn't attend a university or have put a child through one.
Add the cost of housing, special diets, free medical care, university tuition, fees and supplies, specific position training, strength and conditioning advice, access to advanced gym equipment. We won't even talk about the under the table money and other things the "stars" get.
I'd say that the are compensated.

I agree. If you want to watch players with true college passion for the game you have to watch the lower divisions. I watched them play their playoffs this year. What LSU and Ole Miss use to be.

I hear you on the NIL and transfer fiasco. It’s more like MLB than even the NFL. No caps on spending is a big problem and the reason why pro baseball is so hard to be a fan of anymore. Baseball players move around so much coupled with a ridiculously long season which has run off a lot of interest in the sport. Same thing will happen with college football if they don’t get a handle on it.
I’m still going to be a die hard purple and gold guy for life but I could see passing on some college football games that don’t include LSU. There needs to be a commissioner and policies in place to regulate NIL or they will lose a lot of fans.

Sounds like this generation is smarter than yours for not investing a lot of time and emotion into something that doesn’t matter
