More great news out of NASA today and we are now past 75% of the single point failures successfully.
The engineering/science behind this really is unbelievable.
Amazing we have people this talented in this country/world and we end up with the people we do running it because it's treated like a high school student government popularity contest.

I suppose this means that the shield layers have been tensioned as well. Now to the mirrors.

I can't wait to see what we can see with this thing. It's going to be incredible. This would be like Europe being able to see the new world before they actually discovered it.

Very cool stuff. Thinking 6 months until images?

I am assuming this "sun shield" will block out sun rays thus reducing "global warming"?

Watched a 60 minutes segment on this a few weeks ago. Absolutely amazing what people can engineer and build.

The temperature difference from the "Hot Side" to the "Cold Side" is kind of mind blowing:

1) Imagine thinking politics are real and not excessively controlled. The high school popularity contest part is just an illusion.
2) Imagine being a science-sub and believing anything nasa shares as honest or well intentioned

What can’t the brilliant people engineer a craft to send man to the moon?
Nasa admits it can’t do it currently.

Looks like the dome in hunger games. Let’s celebrate!

Stolen from meme thread, just for grins.

On a tangent does anyone else think L1, L2, and L3 should be Euler points instead of Lagrange?

Looking at the really easy to find information... the company who actually did this has been defunct since August 1, 1997
