I need to join this thread….

Had my first IDX (pretty much DEXA) scan today.

Thought I was 21% body fat. Actually 25%. Thought I was 167 lbs. Actually 164.

I really struggle with sticking to a diet. I can lift, run, master a musical instrument, be involved with my kids…but turn down cookies? The fat kid in me has zero will power.

But 25%…damn. That has to change.

literally came here looking for this thread...been a few years at least since I was active in one, but shite if posting here didn't help me in my first weight loss journey. At my best I had got down to about 200 pounds (started at 310ish way back in the day). Maintained around 210-220 for the next few years and now I've let myself get out of control and today I weighted in at 252. I think part of this issue is that I got a promotion at work and went from getting 6-10k steps a day in at work to working from home and sitting on my arse all day lucky to get in 1k a day. It's time to get my shite together. I've got a baby girl on the way in about 4 months and I'll need all the extra energy I can get!

Goal is about 200, but right now the immediate goal is 245.

Trying to mix some IF and keto for the diet aspect, which I should be able to handle with no problems.

Good to see this thread still up and running and some familiar names. Hope y'all are kicking arse 4.5 months into the year!

Let’s get after it. Prioritize getting those steps back in your day. Get outside every few hours and go on a 15 minute walk. Sunlight and moving the body will improve work performance.

Best time to get in shape. That’s what I’m currently doing now. It’s great motivation.

This is a good idea. I've been trying to get out for a 30 minute walk per day, but a few 15 minute walks seem much easier from a since of "taking a break" from work for a bit.

Break it up into whatever is doable for you. If it’s one 30 minute, two 15 minute walks, or three 10 minute walks. Just get out there.

Still in a downward spiral. Have to come out of it eventually lol

ETA: we just bought a house and it’s a fixer upper with good bones we got at a great price/location. Have been out at it a ton working on stuff and my diet/desire to workout is even less than before. I’m going to have to suck it up and wake up early to get some type of exercise in before work. Even if it’s just for the next couple months

.5lb down

I have done absolutely nothing to lose weight the last couple of weeks except just not eat as much. My diet is "whatever people send" and zero exercise. Besides the newborn, my older son had the flu and then I came down with COVID and it spread to my wife, so we've been sick and in quarantine mode and I had to isolate in my home office for a couple of days before my wife tested positive. We've had people sending us meals and I just said frick it for a couple of weeks until we all get healthy and into a rhythm again.

Got in about 7k steps yesterday with my two walks. Got a nice long street above mine that takes about 15-20 minutes to walk from the house so gonna try and do that a couple of times during the work day and with the wife after she gets home from work. Also being more diligent about logging my food. It helps keep the snacking at bay.

bod pod is usually more accurate. but its just a snap shot, do which ever you can continue to do periodically.

Weight loss is slowing way down, need to do something to jump start it. Any suggestions? I'm still lifting 3 days a week.

I wouldn’t worry unless you’re stuck for more than a week or two. Can always add some extra steps to your day, or cut a few calories though.
