I must be crazy!
Belton, Texas (hour North of Austin)
20 degrees
25 mph wind gusts (almost sustained)
Feels like 10 degrees
Sitting in a pop up blind on a big hilltop where multiple trails meet up. Lots and lots of deer in area. Hunted this spot for years.
If it wasn’t the last day of general season I wouldn’t be out here. It’s just to windy. But like an old wise man once told me, “you can’t predict what an old unpredictable Buck will do on the coldest and breezyest last day of the year will do”. Or something like that.
Here we go!
Huge 8 or bigger by 9am or I am back in truck going home

Edited to say after sitting here for an hour the “feels like” temp is about 6*
Still got a thermos of coffee but it will be a miracle if I see a deer this morning. It’s to windy to fly a kite!

Should be a good morning before the front.

If you ever need an additional gun in this lease, I'm your guy. I'd kill for a spot close to home.

Dead calm and temp hasn't changed a degree sense I woke up. This front must have stalled out.

Last morning unfortunately so something needs to show up.

I hear you man. Got lucky and
I married into it, also just divorced from in-laws daughter as well this year but the family and I are super close. Their daughter might not have wanted me anymore but her folks and brothers aren’t on board. I hunt and fish with them more then she sees them all year.

Just got a pic from another camera on the property with turkeys. They’re a couple hundred yards away from my son but he can’t see them where he is
