Per Spotrac he’s earned $655,779 over the past four seasons (doesn’t include his CFL salary),
The Jacksonville Jaguars have just three games left to be played, but that hasn’t stopped them from adding talent to the practice squad. On Monday, the team signed Danny Etling to their practice squad. Etling, 27, was drafted in 2018 out of Louisiana State in the seventh round (No. 219 overall) by the New England Patriots. Since then, he’s been a journeyman quarterback, spending time with the Atlanta Falcons, Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, and most recently the Green Bay Packers. Many of those stops involved time on the practice squad

Etling has yet to register a pass in the regular season.
Talk about making the most out of your abilities, Happy for Danny

Yup. I sat next to him on a flight from Baton Rouge to Atlanta around Christmas time after of his senior year. He told me he heard promising things from the NFL but nobody believed me or what he said.

I guess it's been 5 years already so not that impressive but good for him.

I’m guessing he’s been designated to the practice squads for most of the four years? B/c league min for active
Roster players is around $600k, but idk the stipulations or how many games you have to be activated for that min to kick in

Which implies he's practice squad only. But congratulations to him for doing what he loves and making some money along the way

Off topic here but former Tiger Stevan Ridley bounced around 6 practice squads between 2015-2017 before finally appearing in a few games with the Steelers in 2017

League min kicks in when on active roster. If one game on active roster player would be paid 1/17th of league min in a game check for that week.

On 2021 practice squad - player is paid a set weekly salary of $9,200 for being on practice squad for that week (if less than 2 years of accrued NFL seasons; 1 year of NFL season is a minimum of 6 weeks on active roster).

$150k a year to be a backup rarely seeing the field. Hell yeah. Good catapult into coaching I’d bet too.

$164,000 per year? I honestly thought 4 years as an NFL Qb would pay more than that.

So basically a good corporate job pay- wise but with the status and fun of being an NFL QB. plus it’s on the resume for life. I’d take it . Good for him.
