Back in town for the holidays and decided to load up on my favorite boudin, so I Went to the Billy’s in Scott.

I got there around 3PM (on a Monday) thinking I would miss the lunch rush. Line was decently long but honestly I’ve seen longer in that place. I waited >40 minutes in line to check out despite them having 3 registers open. By far the most frustratingly slow process I’ve ever witnessed. It was a terrible combination of slow clerks and indecisive patrons. How does one wait in line for that long, then get to the register and not have their order ready.

The demographic was also very different than I remember and there were significantly more signs saying they don’t accept food stamps and they won’t serve you if you’re on your cell phone.

TLDR: going to Opelousas location next time

Rant: On [off]

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk

If you think Opelousas is the solution to your demographic problem, you're not familiar with Opelousas.

What a thing to have happen. You sound like you made it through all right. You sure you're ok? Long lines at a store and black people. I couldn't imagine it. Stay strong.

There is a giant Billy's right off pont de mouton on I49. Give that location a shot next time. it's probably not even a mile from i10

My dad and I hit up both Billy’s and Best Stop at 8ish last Sunday morning (8 days ago). We were the only people inside of Billy’s. There were 2 other people in Best Stop with us. Seems like it’s mostly dependent on the time of visit.

Your first mistake was not stopping at Kartchners and your second mistake was not then going to Best Stop.

I go in some slow places, and without having ever worked there, can often immediately see things that would make the operation more efficient. How is management there all day and never figures it out?

Maybe they can hire some folks away from Chik fil A to improve the process and coach the morons in line to get their orders ready.

You could’ve just went north and been in and out in less than 10. There’s better boudin up that way.

His boudin balls are great…. But boudin balls aren’t worth that kind of wait. You can pick up Tasso, boudin and andouille at Best stop. Then stop at Kartchners and get their house bacon and grab you a couple jalapeño cream cheese boudin balls. You could’ve did all of that in less than 20.

While I enjoy Billy’s very, very much, I don’t bother with the Scott location due to the exact frustrations in your post (well, except for your frustration over demographics, I’m not that petty of a snowflake). I go to the Opelousas and newish Carencro locations.

The boudin from Kartchner’s and Nunu’s is very much on par (in my opinion), or at least so negligible in comparison that’s it’s not worth the extra commotion going to Billy’s.

Also, had the fried ribs from Kartchner’s for the first time this past Sunday…holy geez. Thats worth the reason to go North on LA 93 instead of South at that exit.

I also decided to load up on the Billy's while back home for Christmas. Drove this time but I usually fly in so don't get the option to load up an ice chest often to bring back. I went to Opelousas location and it wasn't bad at all. Got a total of about 15 pounds of regular, smoked and crawfish. Also a couple other things as well. I am stocked for now.

It'd like that at all the locations. Opelousas, Lafayette, Krotz Springs. Expect to spend at least 15 minutes (or sometimes alot more) in line on average says.

I know I'm in the minority but I prefer Kartchner's over Billy's for most items. When it comes to regular boudin, I prefer Bourque's over either.

Line is always too long at Billy’s. I rarely go there as there are lots of of other very good options.
