Yea the big intrigue for that game was all the talent Thompson was taking out of Nola.

That win meant a lot

Singleton parlayed to a very successful career...I hear he is an up and comer...just not in basketball.

was there. Court looked tiny in the vast e layout of the Dome.

I was there too. Court seemed like a mile away as a kid. Lol.

Dale Brown was a master motivator. He got the 86-89 teams to embrace the underdog role. For this specific game , he marketed it around as the game that will set the record for the highest attendance in NCAA history. He then convinced sponsors to buy the game tickets and distributed them to boys and girls high school basketball teams around he state. I was a junior and our entire team went to the game on these tickets, along with thousands of other high school kids.

LSU with the gold uniforms. I think that’s one of only 7 times LSU has ever worn the gold uniforms in basketball.

I have no idea where you got that from, but LSU wore gold a lot when Shaq. They’ve worn gold way more than 7 times.

Kent Lowe mentioned it the one time we wore them this year.

Picked up my best man at N.O. airport that morning who flew in from Orlando to see the game. Great game and great time afterwards. My wife loved it and she hates basketball.

And there are a ton more games. Kent Lowe didn’t say that.

Was there too! Game was awesome, but what I remember most was the crowd. They were yelling "What the fricks a hoya" the whole time.

I should have also mentioned Kerry Kittles who prepped at St Aug, and played at NOVA. From an entire career standpoint, Kittles is arguably the best HS talent to come out of NOLA.

I was there. I was only 7 years old, but it was the best basketball game I've ever been to. The Loyola game the following year was up there too.

I was in school in the early 80s. For some of those years, we didn’t even have a purple uniform as an option. Gold was the road color.

In the history of tiger hoops, we've probably worn gold over 500 times. We've played between 2000-3000 games all-time, for goodness sake. There were some years we wore gold for most of our road games.

Superdome not a good venue for hoops

Or football because the seats are so far from the field. And that echo from the announcer...will they ever fix that?
