March Disney Trip - Restaurants
Posted on 12/22/21 at 7:51 am

We have a family Disney World trip planned for March. This will be our first time to Disney World. Bringing a six month old and seven year old. It is almost time to reserve our restaurants and the planner has asked us to pick some out. We’re staying at the beach club.
Any recommendations on restaurant reservations? What are some restaurants you recommend? I’m thinking we don’t want to have a dining reservation every day, but feel free to give me your general thoughts on Disney dining.

We will be going Mardi gras week, and Ohana was the very first restaurant my wife said we need to get reservations for. Said it's expensive and the kids might not like it, but we ARE going there. And she never makes requests like that.

Riviera Character Breakfast (Topolino's Terrace)

My kids picked at some chicken and rice. No regrets at all haha

Ohana is a great choice as is the Toppolino's breakfast.
If you're looking for something in the parks, Via Napoli in Epcot is pizza and pretty good. The place in Mexico (no inside of the building but on the water) is good too.
If you're looking for characters, Hollywood and Vine (Hollywood Studios), Chef Mickey's (Contemporary resort), Toppolino's Terrace (Breakfast - Riviera Resort).
Beaches and Cream at the Yacht Club for dessert. They have a walk up window but it's easier if you make a reservation and sit down.
If you're looking for steak, Le Celier in Epcot and Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Beach/Yacht club are both good.
Whenever we go as a family, Ohona and Via Napoli are places we eat each time. The kids love both.

Beaches and Cream, if you want a meal that is on property.
We enjoy Liberty Tree Tavern, as well, in Magic Kingdom. The food is great and it’s all you can eat.

Steakhouse 71 new place that replaced the wave in the contemporary

Liberty tree tavern used to be my favorite but when I went in 19, they had stopped serving the flank steak. Le Cellulier is awesome but very pricey. Tappan Edo is really good also. We always do breakfast at Chef Mickeys.

If Tusker House is open for breakfast with characters I’d do that at Animal Kingdom. Yak and Yeti also good at AK. Hollywood Studios a Sci-Fi Dine in theatre. Disney Springs - Art Smith’s Homecoming. Magic Kingdom Be Our Guest if they have lower price lunch back ($15-$20). If not the Plaza at the end of Main Street has a view of the castle and decent food that won’t break the bank. Epcot I like Via Napoli and also really like San Angel Inn in the Mayan temple.

Lunch and dinner are much better options
If you're in animal kingdom before 11 am do not be sitting down eating breakfast. Use that time for attractions and sit down later in the day once crowds have built and you're more ready for a break.

The character dining is limited and modified right now and I'm not certain it will be better by March. With that in mind...
Ohana dinner
Chef Mickey Breakfast
hollywood and Vine Breakfast (if your kids are into Disney Junior characters)
Garden Grill dinner
Whispering Canyon Cafe dinner
That would be my list for a newtimer with kids that age.

Best advice I’ve ever seen about traveling to Disney.

Garden Grill in Epcot is my favorite breakfast of all the parks. If you can get a reservation early before park opening you can eat and then ride Soarin before anyone else. It’s a character meal with Chip, Dale, Mickey and Pluto served family style. Your little one is free everywhere though.
My kids really like the SciFi Dine at Hollywood Studios because you can eat in the little cars. The food was pretty good too. We do it for lunch usually.
Animal Kingdom has Yak and Yeti which is an Asian restaurant. It’s probably our favorite of any of the parks for lunch or dinner. The drinks and food are really good whether you want some egg rolls or a whole meal.
Magic Kingdom doesn’t really have great food. People will argue but it’s true. Be Our Guest is expensive as hell and the new menu doesn’t really do it for me. But we still go because we love our kids. Their breakfast is actually decent and again you can get a pre park opening reservation to skip the crowds and ride Mine Train before the park opens. Sometimes twice. Casey’s Corner is where we always get lunch. It’s a solid chili dog that we all enjoy and it’s quick. Every other meal I’ve had there has been a let down.

Best option in magic kingdom to me is the chicken waffle sandwich from Sleepy Hollow Refreshments. Best in park on property to me is Tiffins in Animal Kingdom. My two favorite table service options are Sanaa at Animal Kingdom lodge and California Grill

Highly recommend The Boat House in Disney springs. Lobster roll and coconut shrimp are amazing. Plus their honey rolls are really good

Leave the baby at home. You won't regret it.

I could have been extra hungry, but the king salmon at the Brown Derby was one of the best dishes I've had in a while.
Everything else was great as well.
