The Pelicans are on a 3-game winning streak for the first time this season.

Also, the Pels are now 8-5 in their last 13 games.

Also also, the Pels improve to 7-3 with the Graham-Hart-Herb-Ingram-Jonas starting lineup.

Who goes to the bench if/when Zion returns? With his rebounding, running the break, assists and attacking the basket, Josh Hart probably overlaps what Zion does more than Devonte or Herb. Plus Herb might be the better 3 point shooter and off ball cutter.

Not going to be a concern for a long time. If/when he comes back in another month and we have the same group, I'd guess he would come off the bench for awhile (getting back into the swing of things). Give him Hernangomez and Temple's minutes. Jones will probably be just as effective off the bench with his ability to play so many positions..

I actually think another piece is coming very soon that will be in the top 7-8 rotation. I also see jonas being pulled in closing lineups at times due to his struggles in pick n roll defense . Portland was eating him up in it last night. So I’m going to predict hart goes to bench to start games but is a regular in closing lineups.

I think if is the more operative word than when.

Josh played really well last night in a 41 minute effort. Thats a lot a running man.

Imagine we still had Lonzo.

To not even get a 1st from the Bulls for an RFA is infuriating

It’s should be Hart. My thought is he the ideal 6th man.

What really matters is the finishing five, not who comes off the bench first

Honestly, Graham should if point zion is a thing, hart/herb can actually shoot a consistent 3, and if hart continues to improve as a facilitator.

Until that happens, realistically it should be herb since I think the veteran shooting consistency is a better option.

If Zion comes back it’ll be with maybe 25 games left, and it’ll be on a minutes restriction.

Have him come off the bench.

Herb is coming along, but Hart is only shooting 32% from 3 this season and his career average is 34%. But I wasn't thinking specifically about spacing, I was thinking more about roles in a lineup that's working. If you think about it Hart is playing like a mini Point Zion.

Hart is
- 3rd in assists at 4.3 behind BI (5.0) Graham (4.5)
- Attacking the basket like nobody can stop him and most of the time they can't (71% within 3 feet)
- 2nd most rebounds at 7.1 and often gets them and starts a one man fast break

So if the lineup is good, and Hart is playing like Zion, then it would make sense that Zion could slide into Hart's role with the least amount of disruption.

To me it's not a question of who's the worst of the current starting 5, it's about how that current starting 5 fit together. I also agree with the comment that Hart might be the one to go to the bench but would likely finish a lot of games.

The better record also coincides with Willy getting minutes over Jaxson

The reason why our starting lineup works so well right now is because we have very mobile and switchable defenders outside of Graham and Valanciunas in the starting lineup. You see Herb and Hart switch and it's isn't a mismatch. And they're able to hide Graham and and Ingram in defense for the most part as those guys aren't tasked with tough defensive assignments for the majority of the game.

The concern when Zion comes back, you'll lose the mobility and switchability that the Jones/Hart tandem brings to the table.

ATL nailed it. Zion will likely be the first starter to get a break, so Hart will be the first sub in.

I would hope that Zion's return would result in an 9-man rotation: Graham, Herb, BI, Zion, JV as starters, with Hart, NAW, Billy, and Trey off the bench.

I think the “emergence of Josh Hart” and our winning lately go hand in hand.

I love Herb, but I’d be pushing him to the bench and staggering minutes early in the game with Hart/Ingram/Graham, so that 2nd unit isn’t left on such an island.

BINGO!!

It pains me to say it, but JAX is a coach killer.

Griff made Alvin play him. Alvin got fired.
Griff pressured SVG to play him. SVG got fired
Griff wanted Willie to play him early in the season and people were question Willie's judgement.

JAX has one more year on his rookie contract after this year. I would ship him off to Birmingham and not recall him until the Squandon season is over. That way he can get sorely needed playing time while 'learning how to play the game'. Then next year we can see if Jaxson's mental game has caught up with his athleticism and make personnel decisions accirdingly.

Ingram is a better defender than y’all give him credit for. His offensive usage rate is so high of course he won’t be a A defender but I think he’s a B- or C+ defender. Also graham plays hard on the defensive end his size just gives him problems but I have also seen worst defenders than him.
