That's some beautiful work there Darth. I'd like to see photos of your entire collection one day.

Thanks. That would be one hell of a long thread. My collection is just a little shy of 150 models.

Is that the same model of plane that is in the opening scene of Where Eagles Dare movie? I believe that was a German 3 engine plane but did not appear to be bomber type.

Why does an airplane need to be camouflage brown and green?

On the top of the plane?

This particular model is an Italeri kit, which is overall pretty good. But, IMO, Tamiya makes the best models.

Sorry if already asked but are you usually painting these models by hand or are they already painted and you’re just assembling? I think I’d like to start myself but the painting would get me.

Man that’s awesome. How did you do that paint job?

Same as I do them all, freehand brush paint using Tamiya acrylic paints. For this one I started with a green base, then added the tan camo spots, then finished by adding the brown on top of the tan, leaving the tan outline all around the brown. This particular plane was from the 38th Stormo, 203rd SquAdriglia based in
Lecce, Italy in June 1940

This kit, as is the case with most, came unpainted. I painted it all by hand which is my usual method.

If you’re wanting to get into modeling but don’t want to paint, there are a few more simple kits that don’t require painting. But those usually are one single color instead of having a camo pattern.

Such an obscure subject, but it seems the RAI aircraft have been under represented by model producers. They (Italian designers)did produce some sexy aircraft and some turds too..Breda Lince anyone?

Lately, I've been into the Metal Earth models. It gives me that feeling of accomplishment without having to mess with glue and paint.

Italian aircraft of WWII are among my favorite subjects to build. Here what I have so far other than the SM.81 I finished today.
