Getting them to both take the sane side on an argument is no small accomplishment.
This was my first thought.

I understand it's a slippery slope and would be insane to try to enforce it. I'm just angry that Jeff Bezos has that kind of money and doesn't protect his employees when he easily could have. So in my eyes he murdered those people even if it's not criminal.

Stay off Reddit, because I know that’s where you got this stupid notion.
Or, better yet, stay on Reddit and don’t post on TD.

Do you really want to start making businesses responsible for acts of nature?
That road leads to NY and NJ type rules and regulations followed by taxes that will make your eyes pop.

I understand that, but this is one of the wealthiest businesses in the world.
And he didn’t get that way by spending money on stuff not required by law. I hate Bezos but he can’t predict what Mother Nature will do. Could he have put shelters in. Yes but it’s not required. You ask any wealthy business man or woman would they be willing to spend extra money on something that is not required by law and I promise 99% will say hell no. They answer to the stockholders and no one else.

When I worked in manufacturing the company I worked for went above and beyond the OSHA regular regulations. They were willing to spend millions to not have a bad name for employee deaths.

It's not the acts of nature - we have no control over those. But you can easily construct a safe room. Some concrete, some rebar, a steel door - a negligible cost in the overall cost of the pricetag of the whole facility.

Keep living in your world of no accountability.
Just the richest man in the world has to have storm shelters in his warehouse, but regular ole warehouse owners don't? In your world there should be special building codes for one business, but not the others?

Let me clarify. Not 1 hour before a tornado but 1 hour before a possible cell that could contain a tornado. They knew the high level of chances for tornadoes ahead of time. So hey these storms are about 1 hour away and have a high chance of having a tornado so find shelter.
As I stated earlier in this thread....cells with potential for tornadoes can happen weekly for months in most tornado alley areas and can last for hours at a time in a given place.
Are you saying that you expect all business to completely shut down for multiple hours multiple times a month during tornado season for a twister that is VERY unlikely to come close to you....if not touch down at all?
Ask anyone from south Louisiana if they evacuate for every single hurricane threat.

So you don't give a shite about the employees....just the company not having a bad name?
This thread hasn't been a good look for you. Might just want to abandon it.

Where shite is gonna get interesting is that managers wouldn't let staff leave right before the storm hit. Apparently they didn't want staff to leave(those who were off the clock during shift change) because weather was getting bad.
I mean you're not supposed to leave during a storm in the first place....that's pretty standard protocol just in the name of common sense.

This sounds like a golden opportunity for you. Just imagine how many you are going to have to install before next spring.

So now we are shutting down all commerce in every area where there’s an elevated risk of severe weather in the next sixty minutes?
Well, yeah. Since it is so damn ridiculous that a business owner who is building a facility for a bunch of employees should be required to build a safe room for those employees.

C'mon man. Is this a Babylon Bee setup? I'm not a Jeff Bezos fan, but "Amazon and Jeff Bezos" he did NOT murder those folks in that warehouse. Unfortunately, they were killed in a natural disaster. And contrary to Slo Joe Biden that tornado was NOT caused by global warming either. Tornadoes happen.
Please stop.
Please stop.

They can build a meeting room like a safe room, not a storm shelter. More lives would be saved. But warehouses are death traps when the racks loosen up and become projectiles.

So now every building constructed must have a tornado ‘safe room’?

You guys continue to go to town on straw men. I didn’t say that, did I? How about if your facility is being built for 50 or more workers? Or some number. It’s not that difficult, or expensive.
