Original story was posted here when it happened. Not sure how you can plead insanity to something you planned and had someone film.

A Covington High School student has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity after her arrest for assaulting a teacher with a disability, according to information from the court.
St. Tammany Parish District Attorney Warren Montgomery previously announced that Larrianna Jackson, 18, of Covington, was charged with felony second-degree battery and cruelty to the infirmed.
Jackson was arrested Oct. 6 by the Covington Police Department. She faces up to 10 years and is due for a pre-trial court appearance March 14.
Her felony jury trial is scheduled for March 28.

Perhaps she scored quite low on an IQ test?
I thought those IQ test were racist? I guess not when it’s beneficial.

If the Napoleon hat doesn't fit, you must acquit.

I hope she gets the help she needs! Oppositional Defiant Disorder is real and she most likely suffers from it. She should be sent to psychiatric hospital to recover from this trauma for a few months. I am pretty sure ODD qualifies her for SSI/Disability benefits for when she gets out and will continue her therapy on an outpatient basis.

The standard is whether or not the individual was capable of discerning between right and wrong at the time of the offense. It doesn't require someone to be "insane" in the more colloquial sense.
With that said, this is going to be a hell of a long row to hoe for that defense attorney. I don't envy them.
