Important part of 25+7 signing rules

Schools are only allowed to replace players who enter the transfer portal after the early signing period. Schools would have to replace them by the time camp starts. They would not carry over to the next class
This is from SI article by Ross Dellinger from September 2021
Any transfers to date will not be replaced by the limit of 7
Transfers who enter portal after early signing date and are replaced by the start of camp are the only ones allowed to take this 7 player exception

Has this been verified? If so that would suck but I’m sure there are more coming.

I understand the rule to work like this....Everyone who is in the portal now is still in school which means they haven't transferred out yet. They will leave LSU after the semester is over which is after the early signing date. So we can take a player in for everyone going out so far as long as they stayed enrolled at LSU.

No way this is true.
I wouldn’t doubt Delly on his facts.

Tried to post about what Lester just said as well. It's the end of the fall semester or early signing day, whichever comes first. Lsus has technically passed already, when I looked at the fall calendar. This is what the ncaa put out below.
The waiver addresses concerns about potentially high numbers of college athletes transferring after all student-athletes were given the opportunity to compete immediately after transferring for the first time. It will apply at the end of the first term (students who depart on or after the earlier of the last day of the school's fall term or Dec. 15, 2021, which is the first day of the early National Letter of Intent signing period).

The following excerpt is from an article on Oklahoma St. recruiting in the Oklahoman:
"The NCAA Division I Council approved a one-year waiver signing and initial counter limits to allow schools to replace up to seven transfers. Schools will only be allowed to replace players who enter the portal after the school’s fall term or Dec. 15, 2021 — whichever is earlier — according to The Athletic."

If all the players around the country currently in the portal don't count towards the 7 a school can sign then there will be alot of players without a school to play at next year.

With NIL, can a team just use NIL to get tuition covered for a walk-on?
Every walk-on at BYU had their tuition paid this year.
Use the portal to land walk-ons.
Legal?

The ACTUAL question is: Do they have to actually transfer, or just be in the portal?
Ricks has been in the portal, but not actually signed with anyone. If he completes the transfer say for instance next week, does he count as replaceable or not?

So how the hell did Bama sign 27 HS and 4 transfers last year? That’s 31

Same way they’ve done it every year, rules don’t apply

I mentioned this is another post. They may have announced they are transferring, but their intent is to possibly enter after Dec 15th. In this case we will be able to accept the player rule. How many have announced, but haven’t entered yet....not sure.

You should be able to get up to 85 any way you can.
Otherwise there is a huge disparity in college football.
We saw it with LSU players optometrist out and only playing with 70 or so scholarship players.
Nfl allows everyone to play with 53, NCAA needs to make 85 for erveryone.

So what if a player jumps into the transfer portal, but he continues going to class, removes himself from the portal, then re-enters the portal after the mentioned deadline? Is he now eligible to be back counted for the school he’s leaving from and back counted to the school that he ultimately signs with?

But if they really want someone he can count against the 25 cap if available
