Heart wrenching video, kudos to the diver.

My powpow dove to the bottom of the Mississippi river one time and found what he thought was a Volkswagen. Turns out it was a giant catfish.

You should watch Adventures With Purpose. They do this all of the time all over the country and have solved 16 missing person cold cases on top of recovering a ton of other lost and missing stuff.

Was this supposed to be a murder suicide? A rub out?

Did LE just not have the funds or equipment to do a basic scan of the river in the last decade (I don’t know enough about tech to blame them for 20 years ago)
but a car in the curve of the road on a river 10 feet down seems like it should have been easy-ish to solve
cool video to watch though and happy for their family that they can have peace and answers and a proper goodbye. and props to the LEs for not having an ego and letting him do his thing

The AWP guys cover that. LEO's typically don't have the budget to keep searching. Also alot of these waters you can't see more than a couple feet. They will be swimming along then all of a sudden a car will appear like arms length away. No indication something is there prior to that.

I crawled around on the bottom of Percy Priest Lake for 2 hours looking for a friend's windshield that fell off his boat. Couldn't see anything. Mostly found barbed wire from before they flooded it.

That was a very interesting and, near the end of the video, a very satisfying story. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

I mean it looks like this dude was using a fancy fish finder (I'm sure I'm way underestimating the device he's using but still). You mean to tell me that no one had a boat and a fish finder that could check out the river?

I don't like Monday morning quarterbacking stuff, but that water was very clear looking too. Seems like you could see that type of object on a flyover. I'm sure they did that several times though.

The fish finders people have on their boats can find all kind of stuff. This is another sunken car find by a fisherman. LINK
