should have built the pedestrian bridge during the fall so it would be ready by the time this started. but forward thinking and planning apparently isn’t a thing in Baton Rouge
Plus, starting it right before finals.
These frickers are legit retarded.

Wait. So the guy who owns Freds also owns Costal Bridge?

Why can’t they make a temporary walking bridge? It’s maybe $10,000 in wood and construction.
Hell a few OT’ers can probably slap one together that will last through the summer at least. Half of you are engineers.

So is there not a way around this? Does the bar owner parachute in?

Well the alternative was during football season, honestly I’m surprised they had that kind of foresight to even plan accordingly.

Loved the statement on being prudent in mind of tax payers.
Since when has the city council ever been prudent with financial decisions?

Some students in the Civil Engineering dept. should get together and buy some 2x12s and build a temp. wooden walkway bridge for this location this weekend. They might even earn some credits in the classes.

Why does it take so long to replace a little bridge? Not build a new one. Just replace it.
Well, if it's ready in summer 2022, then i'd say it's about 6 months. They are also building next to a railroad. There are an obscene amount of restrictions you must abide by when building next to a railroad, one being no work can be done while a train passes. Also, the bridge could be tying directly into railroad and may even match the grade of the railroad (no more ramp to highland), and if that's the case, it's just more work to be done. Considering the proximity to the RR, 6 months ain't that bad for a small bridge like this, especially since they are starting during the rainy season known as every day in Louisiana.

I was thinking more of an 8 foot chain link fence that you rent. They could move it each day to work and put it back at night.
We used to jump the outer chain link fence around Mike’s old enclosure to stick our arms through the main chain link fence and pet Mike. He would walk back and forth rubbing against our hands like a house cat.
A chain link fence isn’t stopping stupid college kids.
