I see at Alabama he coaches the linebackers as his position group. Would there be a chance to retain Blake Baker while also getting Golding? Wouldn’t feel good about getting him if we lose guys like Daronte and Baker. Not sure if that’s how it would go down so wondering what y’all think it would look like.

Why would he leave Bama to come to LSU? Serious question.

We are not hiring Golding (I hope)

Golding has coached DBs everywhere else he’s been before Bama. He could just be the DC and you keep Carter, Baker, Raymond as the position coaches.

Baker would add value just because he has been a DC before. He'd help gameplan schemes. I doubt Jones would take a pay cut and demotion to stay. If you make a hire like Golding you let him build his staff how he wants don't force anyone on him.

This is something Jones simps don't seem to understand is behind the scenes for all they know Baker is a big reason Jones defenses have grown at the end of the season.

Good chance he's not even interested in LSU job.

More money potentially. He is from Hammond.

I don’t think either of those makes much difference to Petey but those could factor in.

Get out from under Saban? His scheme, his defense, full control? I'd have to think that means something. It certainly makes him look better on a full control LSU team than being a good DC for Bama who has unlimited talent and everyone looks good under Saban?

Because when you coach for Saban, you coach Saban’s defense. At LSU, he would get to run his own scheme without interference from the hc

Am I taking crazy pills here? Why would you want Pete Golding? Bama has needed to win games in shootouts and their fans have wanted him gone for years. They would laugh at LSU if we hired him.

Good point. Kelly apparently gave Marcus Freeman almost full control of the defense.

Bc almost all of college football are shootouts. If you have a high powered offense your defense will get scored on. LSU in 2019 had some really bad defensive games

We won shootouts while Aranda was the DC as well.

Modern college offenses are pretty good. They'll score some points from time to time.

Golding might want to go back to coaching safeties.

A staff of Baker, Raymond and Golding could be fun.

I think they are targeting Lebby.

Statistically, he doesn't suck.

His defense is giving up all of 292 yards a game this year.

Golding would be a huge splash hire, and a massive boost in recruiting.

People just keep parroting this while they are statistically good and Saban hasn't gotten rid of him for three years now.

He definitely doesn't "suck". I think the huge upside in recruiting is worth whatever perceived flaws there are in his defense.
