I sure hope Coach Kelly keeps Brad Davis as OL coach.

The guy learned from the best in Sam Pittman. He even went to Belaire High School in Baton Rouge. This isn't a feel good, good ole boy hire. Brad Davis is a solid position coach, and still has 2 years remaining on his contract at an average of $830,000 per year.

quote:

New LSU offensive line coach Brad Davis agreed to a three-year contract with the Tigers that will pay him an average of $830,000 per year, according to a copy of the term sheet Davis signed with the university.

quote:

Davis, 41, has a résumé that made him a top candidate for LSU. He's a former offensive lineman who started on Oklahoma's BCS national championship team in 2000. His 16-year collegiate coaching career includes several stops at Southeastern Conference programs — including a one-year stint at Florida in 2017 — which gives him extensive experience on the recruiting trail.

quote:

Davis began his coaching career at Southern Lab in Baton Rouge, where he was an offensive line coach and co-offensive coordinator in 2003 and 2004.

Let Kelly hire who he wants. I’m tired of these dumb arse threads already.

I’m just glad I am FINALLY confident in the HC at LSU making good football choices.

I don’t sweat the staff buildout AT ALL.

It feels good.

I agree, I’m always supportive of a HC hiring whoever they want and Quinn has been with him his entire career and is a great OL coach, but Brad is too and is an awesome recruiter! We really should save a coaching position for him (even if not OL). I think it would be the smartest move in both the short and long term!

Then get off the coaching changes board.

What the hell do you think we're going to be discussing right now? As long as this board is open, people will be discussing the LSU assistant coaching positions. This is what happens on the TigerDroppings Coaching Changes Board.

If you don't like it, don't participate in this board. It's really not that difficult of a concept.

His resume may look really good, but his product sure looked terrible this year.

Can Davis stay on as an analyst?

Jeff Quinn seems to be waiting to see what happens this weekend before coming to BR IMO.

I'm not sure you knew what you were looking at.

The offensive line wasn't nearly as bad as it got blamed for and got significantly better as the year went along.

Don't forget, Davis was hired right before camp started, so he was behind the 8 ball from the beginning.

Sam Pittman is one of the best offensive line coaches in the country and Davis was his protégé. From what I've gathered, Pittman was not happy at all Davis was leaving, either, so that should tell you how highly Pittman thought of Davis.

When the retard O was told the blocking schemes were an issue, Davis immediately showed instant improvement on the line in the middle of the season. He took the job a few weeks before the season and had to deal with the shite show Cregg left him with.

He's not a bad coach at all. If BK wants to keep him I'm all for it but if he wants to make a change I'm fine by that too.

Yeah the guy came in July and had to work with Cregg’s guys. Wouldn’t be opposed to him staying, but this is a job CBK knows what he wants.

Davis has signed a 3-year contract that will start at $810,000 and rise by $20,000 per year over the following two seasons.

Ouch. Wow, Davis may be a keeper.

Didn’t LSU’s OL play like arse this year?

And they never really got better?

I watched that game against A&M. That LSU OL looked pathetic.
