LSU pulled Brian Kelly, someone with legit skins on the wall, whereas another perceived destination top job (Florida) settled on a Sun Belt coach. Notre Dame is looking at promoting a young DC. Oklahoma may end up hiring their old DC. Texas is cycling through another flavor of the year.

Kind of put things in perspective. Good job Woodard.

Regardless however Kelly turns out, he is at least bonafide. Not every "top job" could bring in someone of his caliber. Kind of amazing considering out track record for coaches lately has been "eccentric" to put it mildly.

Good post. It's been a great 20 years, but I think more than that, people see what lsu can be consistently.

Woodward is rallying not just the football program but LSU athletics as a whole. It feels like we’re heading into a Golden age all around

I just wanna see men’s basketball hang an ncaa championship banner in the PMAC before I die. It’s the only sport I care about that’s left that hasn’t been able to get to the top of the mountain for all of the talent that has come through.

People who are very very ill want the best possible doctor available to treat them. They don't go to a resident.

Based off resumes, Kelly is a home run hire when compared to that Sun Belt guy.

Based off feelings or whatever, there’s probably 10 guys people think we should’ve hired. We did that the last time. Let Florida do it this time.

It has a lot to do with Woodward. Like Kelly said, he was sold in Woodward’s vision. LSU was a top destination when O was hired. Our AD was a spineless scumbag and so was LSU’s President. Now we have a guy with a vision directing a championship caliber program.

That’s how it happened. Great coaches want to work for Woody. They trust him. Otherwise, we would have ended up with Napier, at best.

Let this be a lesson to all of you chicken little pussies… there are PROFESSIONALS who are way more qualified that you internet idiots who get paid substantial amounts of money to make these decisions. You have to trust that their experience and knowledge trumps whatever sidewalk opinions you might have

I know people are gonna give me shite for having this opinion but the way some of y’all were acting was downright embarrassing..

I have been occupied with pressing matters this week. Haven't been able to post until now. Based on the statements of white whale, the salary offered, and how happy Woody expected everyone to be, I legit thought the only person who checked all of those boxes was Saban himself. I was wrong and believe we embarrassingly overpaid.

But what do I know? That's why I'm a fan and not an AD. I wait to see how it turns out.

what. You think the 2nd most winningest active coach, from Notre Dame, 5 consecutive 10 win seasons...is not a white whale?

Secondly, anyone who remotely thought saban was even a 1% possibility is an idiot.

Thirdly, we paid below market rate for Kelly. Coaches with 2 years experience are getting 9m a year.

Fourthly, you're a dope

FIFTH saban makes more than we are paying Kelly and he's incredibly underpaid.

Looks to me like UF panicked and signed a coach quickly without a lot of deliberation. Much like ND did with Freeman.

While I agree with you most times, I kind of did that the last time with Joe and here we are once again.

I was hoping that the guy who gave Texas A&M a national championship football coach would give LSU much the same. It appears, on paper, that he did.

I always expected Florida to have a great coach. They've really been struggling with the last few.
