Why is Ron running in 2024?

Can a DeSantis fan explain it to me? Trump is polling light years ahead and they were on friendly terms until this point. He's at a massive disadvantage.
Ron was in an incredibly secure position as one of the best governors in the country, and at his age could have easily waited until 2028 when he'd be a crystal clear frontrunner. Even if Trump loses in 2024 he'd be too old and at that point considered unfit as a candidate.
By entering in 2024, he's going up against the force that is Trump and facing the very realistic chance of a loss in the primaries, something which usually leaves a stink on someone as a failed candidate.
So why run now vs 2028?

For love of country. It’s either somebody steps up and gets the nomination or it’s four more years trippy Joe.

Because Trump has very little chance of winning in the general.
You don't wait 4 years because "It's his turn again"

Because political consultants have millions on the line and he is the sacrificial lamb.
They make their cut, then move to 28 and the next victim.

Because he thinks he can beat Joe Biden in an election and he'd make a good President, and he's very popular.

Trump started attacking him relentlessly almost 6 months ago, long before he decided to run.

He still is.

Trump will run again in 2028. There's nothing stopping Desantis from running in 28 if he doesn't get the nom. Reagan lost in 76 and got the nom in 80. Biden lost it numerous times. HRC lost to Obama in a brutal campaign.

Trump should not be running. He promised he wouldn't. And he isn't the man he was in 2015, he is a shadow.

I think his backers or the people he listens to convinced him to run. He should've known Trump would do a hit job on him, once he runs. I truly question Desantis' judgment here as it calls into question everything. Very disappointing to see all the infighting within the party. Although, the GOP isn't really much of a party these days (which may be a good thing). Ron probably thinks Trump will be taken out by the DOJ. Whether it happens or not, Ron has really hurt his brand with this poor decision. If he simply supported Trump for 2024 and then ran in 2028, he would've probably been easily the favorite to earn the nomination. Hell, he should've gone for VP in 2024 with Trump.

But a huge chance in the primary so your point makes no sense.

He’s convinced by the uniparty globalist he’s the man. The consultants will bleed this campaign dry. Again, once he fails they’ll revert to voting for sleeepy joe!

So you're disappointed in Trump then? He's been attacking for 6 months with no response until recently.

How? Why? what poor decision?
ITS HIS TURN

That question should be addressed to Trump. So why is Trump running?
Posted on 6/2/23 at 12:48 pm to Thundercles
Whether y’all want to admit it or not. Trump will not win.. the more relevant question is why is he running?
Posted on 6/2/23 at 12:48 pm to Thundercles
Because he wants to be president and he’s popular after doing a great job with the 3rd biggest state in America.

So just sit back and let Trump lose again so people like you can demand Trump run again in 2028.

Probably because he gives a frick about this country.

Plenty of people have won their party's nom after losing years earlier. Any President ever come back from a general election loss?

I will admit that Desantis may have been a bit naive. He likely had a lot more faith in the general republican electorate that they wouldn't immediately be so dumb as to parrot such stupidity like "he's a RINO GLOBALIST CUCK" and he's bought and paid for, and other such laughable crap. He probably had a lot more faith that people look at his record and what he has done. And that is not how it works, the American public in general is as dumb as mud.
