With an projected wind chill as low as -30.
It's a balmy 14 right now downtown near the lake.
What makes people choose to live in this shite? Serious question.

I could deal with that kind of weather if I lived in a ski town or a place where I could go in the backcountry.
Living in a city with not uncommon temperatures below 20? Fuuuuuuuck that.

It's gonna be chilly tomorrow here in Charleston as well, a high of 53.

Yeah, but it’s not a damp 4. With that dryer Northern air, it will probably feel only like 9 or 10.

Chicago is a great summer city. Assuming you dont get shot.
But yeah not worth it when you have to deal with winter

Why a lot of them go to the beach during the winter.
Are you there for work or leisure?

How much is the electric, gas, whatever bill for heating per month? I know my gas bill can get around $100-$150 a month at the max, but it ain't ever cold like that. Seems like those guys up north would need a 2nd mortgage for the heating bills.

I bet it would be $500

With Chicago it's the wind that makes it so damn cold, particularly downtown.

A high of 4 is gonna feel like a heat wave compared to next week.
We're flying out to go skiing in Park City on Wednesday...so escaping shriveled, crystallized, frozen testicles for just "really cold balls".
I assume planes fly in that stuff. Honestly though this winter has rarely been below freezing. It's been fine. shite, at the beginning of January it was in the 50s and I was running outside in shorts and a long sleeve t shirt.

I mean is it any different than running the AC in the summer in the south?

Yeah, WI/MN/IL got a blanket of wind chills at -50 and down to like -75 on the models for the middle of next week. Since I don't really think we'll be breaking all time records through the region, that's overdone but there will be a nice breeze coming with those -6 daytime highs.
