Paging Will Cover - F150 Advice

Drove over to the Ford dealership in Slidell today thinking I could get a deal before the end of year on a new 2018 F150 FX4. Once there I decided on a Platinum Edition on site w the 5.0L V8—V8 vs EcoBoost is a discussion for another thread. It was loaded with everything except sunroof (which I’m ok with not having).
MSRP was $63k (including truck nuts). Their best offer was $54.5 before TT&L and Trade, but told them I needed it at $50k. Sales Manager came to tell me “no dice”, so I thanked them for their time and headed to my truck. The salesman followed me and offered $53k. I respectfully declined, thanked him again, and left.
Am I out of my mind for pushing for $50k? I know there are options in the Houston / Austin Area with posted pricing for the same truck in the mid to upper $40’s / low $50’s. Assuming I could get a firm deal worked out beforehand, I don’t mind driving over for the weekend to pick one up and visiting friends.
Thoughts?

quote:Well apparently thats where the market is for them. You may be able to do better in TX, watch out for dealer fees. The dealers in Texas may do more volume and therefore be able to go lower. Just make sure you get the deal done before you go. On a side note, my buddy went to Dallas to save another $1k over local and got rear ended less than 2 miles from the dealership LOL.

Why would anyone spend $63K on a truck? It’s a truck baw. You could get a brand new 5 or 7 series for that money plus cash left over

If your limit is 50, stick with 50. They will call back. Might be in 1-2 days, might even be in 1-2 weeks, but they will call. When they do call agree with 50, tack on something from the service department like free oil changes or tented windows since they took up too much of your precious time to finally agree to 50.

Are you a whore or a heroin dealer?

Check with Courtesy Ford in Breaux Bridge. They sell the most F150’s in the state and can give you the best deal.

You think the salesman walked outside to give him the absolute lowest price on his first visit? Which Ford dealership do you work at?
