Just cause we're diabetic doesn't mean we're overweight. It's a disease, not our fault.

Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the world I live in. Besides political crap, my life's good. I have no problems with any race or religion in person. The media would make you think otherwise, but most people are decent humans.

I have to wonder why would people would have so much more saved for retirement in 2007 than any other year?

A couple of those might be misleading.

Sitting on cash in a savings account has been as good as putting it under a mattress for almost 10 years. If you have $1k in a savings and $100k in a brokerage account, I'd call that aggressive and smart.

And ~$8k in debt is good, all inclusive. With mortgages I have a whole lot more debt than that.

1) Use government funds to get cheap high caloric food
2) Use government funds to pay for your health care
3) Use government funds to pay for your house, phone, and utilities
4) Use your minimum wages for purses and tennis shoes
5) Retire a ward of the state and let the government take care of you.

Agree. The interest rates suck. Might as well just keep the money in checking.

what % of people with <$5,000 in savings does this apply to?

My guess is pretty low.

I will concede that I have a BMI of 25.2, placing me firmly in the overweight category, but I have a strong head of hair.
