What is your experience with an Audi Q7, a BMW X5 or similar Mercedes?

Daughter,(no pictures), is looking at the 2023 Q7 and 2024 X5 and possibly a Mercedes. For those who have owned these vehicles, what has been your experience in reliability and overall satisfaction? Any other vehicle you would recommend that meets the below requirement?
The requirement is the vehicle weigh 6,000 lbs so her company can get bonus depreciation for 2023 tax year.

Get the new Lexus GX. She can thank me later!

I had the previous generation q7 and it was by far the best vehicle I've ever owned.
I wouldn't buy the current gen as the all touch interface is awful. It's a damn shame as I'd love to still be driving a q7.

German. Maintenance will eat her lunch.

Doesn’t the GX body style change in 2024? I think I saw where it comes out next June. I will mention that to her.

Thanks for your input. What year model was your Q7? Any issues with your car that could be a problem?

I like the Q7 more than the X5. BMW has cheap interiors compared to Audi and Mercedes. More plastic. I also really love the ergonomics of the Audis. The physical layout of the cabin is really well done, and you have good visibility from the drivers seat.
I’ve driven I guess all of the latest Mercedes SUVs. I didn’t like the technology, especially the intrusive steering overrides, and the glass dashboard, although it’s visually a good design, but they have the highest quality interior of the three, and felt the best built. I do like the G-Wagon, but I like it because despite the modernizations it’s still a throwback. It drives like an old truck and the cabin has an astonishing amount of space.

I had a 2018 q7, with the old supercharged v6 engine that I believe was phased out.
Zero problems, it was awesome.

With my bias toward drivers' cars, I would rank them:
X5
Q7
GLE
The choice will depend a lot on what an individual's priorities are.

American no better at this point

As long as there is warranty they are all good vehicles.
I have had better luck with BMW than Audi.
Every sensor…and there are many…is $600 on all of them.

Wife’s had the Lexus, Audi, and Mercedes recently. She has the Mercedes now and likes it the most bc it scoots around a little better, like a car.
I liked the Lexus bc it sat up higher and is more of a truck ride. Completely different vehicles. Audi somewhere in between the two IMO.

Agree with your ranking as far as ride goes. In 2017 I drove a BMW 7 series sedan and loved it but then read some horror stories in an owners review forum and ended up with a Lexus which was a vanilla ride compared to the BMW. The Lexus has grown on me over time and has been bulletproof as far as dependability, but like I said pretty plain as far as the ride goes. I have been seeing where BMW reliability is getting better but I haven’t done a deep dive lately.

Think he means the cost. It’s significantly more than American or Japanese.

Mercedes. I've had BMW. Hated it. Our GLE is great.

We have a 2019 19 q7 that we bought CPO in 2020. We have the 3.0 engine. It’s my wife’s daily driver but I drive it when we are going out as a family. I also say that it is a wonderful vehicle all around. Great safety features, like preparing for impact if it thinks someone is going to rear end you.
It is a road trip machine, very quiet on interstate, kids will sleep for hours. Power plant is great.
Nothing major has broken on it, but we did have the differential replaced under warranty this past month because it would vibrate on tight radius corners. My biggest complaint about maintenance is the dealership shop itself. Incredibly slow as in 2 days for an oil change when you scheduled it 3 weeks prior. We are under warranty til January 2025 so I have to deal with it for now.
Every time I drive it, I feel like it is money well spent

None of the one you listed are that heavy. Not even the LX600 is heavy enough.
ETA: I think the IRS rule pertains to GVWR which is weight plus payload.
