Les Aspin should’ve been impeached as SecDef for that fiasco.

A tragedy those guys were sent out without proper support.
Clinton, Aspin and Powell should have resigned in disgrace. Or faced justice, or both.

Black Hawk Down remains one of the only movies that genuinely sticks with me after.
I feel anger after seeing what they did to the bodies of the soldiers.

I messed up and took a date to that movie. When she started crying I knew the mission was a failure

Just another world police action that ended with egg on our face and our servicemen in body bags.

Americans died because people in the government didn’t have the balls to do what needed to be done. They didn’t have a problem sending Americans to a 3rd World shithole, yet they lacked the balls to nip it in the bud. Now 30 years later China is all over the continent of Africa spreading communist BS to a lot of people that don’t know any better. What happened in Somalia opened the door to China to come in and do what their currently doing.

I walked out of that movie wishing we’d nuked Mogadishu off the face of the planet.
My opinion hasn’t changed.

Absolutely fantastic movie.
And it legit has like 25-30 now-famous actors in it, most of whom were not famous when they were in it.

The part where Satterly talks about Gordon's or Shughart's wife not being taken care of really pissed me off.

Same shite different day.
I mean that cynically toward the GOVT not toward the troops obviously.

Has anyone read the book on the event? Black Hawk Down - Mark Bowden
If it is anything as good as a book by Bowden I'm reading now, it's next for me. It's really well done, highly recommend.
Hue 1968 - Turning Point of the American War
