Are red lights more of a suggestion these days?

I don't know about anyone else but I feel like on my daily commute I've been seeing this more and more. People are just cruising right through red lights after they have turned yellow and then red. Probably saw like 5 people doing it just on the way home yesterday. I know a lot of people have always either sped up or slowed down but it seems recently people are just ignoring them. It has gotten to the point where it feels like you need to wait at least a few seconds when your light turns green. Anyone else noticing this?

I have a red light by my house I run often. It takes ten minutes to change and you can clearly see if anyone is coming.

Marking that on my trashy bingo card

I treat them as a 4 way stop.

Can’t comment on that, but I know that stop signs are.

I always do this in my town in case somebody comes booming through the intersection. I like to be about second in line so the driver in front of me can test the waters.

I had to buy a dash cam last year because of how bad it has become on the road.

in new orleans, yes. it's ridiculous. that and the cars going 100 plus on the interstates, 4 wheelers, crotch rockets etc. just pure lawlessness.

Could see that if there's nobody there and it's late or something but I'm talking like busy streets at rush hour

between people not stopping, and the dumb fricks that "let folks out" when they have a green light has definitely increased over the years.

It's a fricking traffic light. You don't need to let people turn right in front of you, they'll get their turn.

After watching countless videos of cars getting t-boned by red light runners, I usually look both ways before I venture out into the intersection.

If they proceed with caution, no biggie. If light is yellow and I’m turning, I’m in the middle of the intersection and going to turn.

The only one I run through is near my house. Not a 4-way intersection, and it dead ends into the crossing street. You can see a good quarter mile in either direction, and if I stop and see no one in either direction, I make my left turn and head on home. Usually won't during rush hour because the light does change sort of quickly, but I've been through there late at night before, coming home from a road trip, and sat there for more than 2-3 minutes waiting on it to turn green. I was the only car at the intersection, so I finally just gave up and ran it.

Had someone trying to turn left on Kaliste Saloom from Ambassador probably 5 seconds after the light turned red. The guy flipped everyone off as he drove on by.
