The companies still doing business in Louisiana are just raping the public. The cost is skyrocketing since some companies have pulled out of the state. I am so freaking ready to move away from this cesspool of a state.

We had a hard time finding a company because my roof is 12 years old.

There are plenty of reasons to call La. a cesspool, but out of state insurance companies are not among them.

Every incumbent should fear losing their job because of this mess. People need to get loud and rowdy.

Major hurricanes are doing billions in damage in the state practically every year; tough to blame them.

It’s not like there weren’t four major storms to hit LA causing like $6B in damages over 370 days or anything. They just hate you.

Your roof is wiser than this 12 year-old:

it's like we're the state of oil and gas contributing to the climate change that makes those hurricanes more frequent and powerful, and the rising sea levels eroding our marshes that protect us from those hurricanes

I'm probably dropping flood (we're on an "island" of elevation of sorts), and dropping wind/hail as soon as it's paid off. Nearly there...

From my understanding, the insurance companies insure the policies they write. So, the “hit” they take is not nearly the amount of loss occurred by a storm.

Just renewed mine in Ohio for the upcoming year.

Nationwide smacked me with a 40% increase and I haven't had a claim in 18 years (wind from Katrina damaged my roof), thanks to the housing market and the inflated home price/replacement values. We are all getting screwed no matter where you live.

Donelon won't be running again. Hopefully the new commissioner takes this head on
