New Toyota CEO Reveals $23k Toyota Stout compact pickup truck | Ford Maverick Competitor

In this video, we explore the new compact and affordable pickup truck, which is Toyota's answer to the Ford Maverick. This huge Toyota NEWS is part of Koji Sato, the new CEO of Toyota Motor strategy. Sato has pledged to drastically accelerate the rollout of new electric vehicles as part of his goal to reinvent Toyota as a mobility company. He has clearly been paying attention to the success Ford has had since entering the compact pick-up market in 2021 and is fast-tracking this new pick-up launch.

Not a fan of these unibody “trucks” on car/crossover platform/frames.
I’m sure there’s a market segment for it, and actually that may include me… but the first major to introduce a true compact truck (ala Ranger or S10) should make bank.

I'm not their target market, especially with the new design. Why can't companies go back to what looks better design-wise?
The old (or original) far exceeds this plastic-looking model they are going to pump out. Take the exterior of the old Stout, and fill it with modern-day amenities on the inside.
Ford, I'm also including you. The new design of the Bronco fails in comparison to the original design. If I wanted to spend $60 to $70K on a Bronco, it would be to restore one that could potentially appreciate in value instead of the one that will drop like a rock in 2 to 3 years after a new purchase. The old Bronco is a classic design. The new Bronco design will be something that we won't look back on in 40 to 50 years and think, I want one of those to restore.

Absolutely no way for you to know this. You think in ‘66 Bronco buyers were like, “I’m gonna wait 40 years and then restore one of these bad boys.”? They didn’t….
They weren’t valued but by a very, very, small market for the small time the originals were made. It just wasn’t something the average soccer mom, bought like a Tahoe or Yukon today. Also, just because you can’t afford one doesn’t mean they’re ugly either.

Exactly. Today's Bronco is designed for soccer moms or the guy who thinks it's fashionable. They are disposable vehicles for this target audience.
The old Bronco, because of its small(er) market value back in time will naturally have more of an appeal. Less supply = more demand.

Whether I can or can't afford one does not mean that my opinion is wrong. Today's Bronco pales in comparison to the original.
