Back in the day women were not able to act so when there were plays, all the dudes had to dress up like women.
People think things are getting crazy like never before, but even going back to the Romains they had some strange sexual behaviors.

That's the point. Times changed so boys looked like boys. And I think it was more prevalent among upper classes.
Kids running around on farms weren't dressed like that.

Hard to argue with you given the immense volume of context and sample size you’ve provided

This is typically how both boys and girls were dressed until they reached somewhere around the age of three or four. I have a few photos of my grandfather and his brothers dressed similarly in the late 1890s and early 1900s. The explanation I have heard most frequently is that it was easier for mothers to change diapers or for a young child who was just getting out of diapers to tend to toilet issues. Easier to hike a skirt than to fight buttons on your fly when you're only two to four years old.
Figure that mothers back then didn't exactly get to lounge around and watch soaps during the day either. They were working at maintaining the family domicile, cooking, cleaning, chores related to farming, laundry, etc. So there wasn't a whole lot of time to dedicate to changing a child's clothing every time he went to the bathroom.

It wasn't until like the 1920s that they flipped the colors - boys used to be associated with pink and girls with blue.

This is about Roman sexuality.
Ancient Roman Sexuality
So back then there wasn't even a label. You could go around slinging dick on whoever and it was cool.

Homosexuality in Ancient Rome
Romans did not think in terms of sexual orientation (heterosexual vs. homosexual) and there was no equivalent for the word "homosexual" in Ancient Rome. It was socially acceptable for a Roman male to have intercourse with both men and women as long as he took the active role. Taking the passive role was looked down upon and was seen as taking the role of the woman, threatening a Roman man's sexual integrity and even liberty as a free citizen. Permissible male partners inclhttps://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/o-t-lounge/uded slaves, infames (e.g. actors) and male prostitutes. Roman men who practiced homosexuality often preferred younger males between the ages of 12 and 20 noting that sex with young male citizens was prohibited.

My grandmother (no pix) used to make fun of Walter Comeaux when he was a boy in Broussard and his mother dressed him like that.
Walter would go on to be the first and only Lafayette Parish President in 1983. He was later elected Lafayette's first City-Parish President and served two terms in that office prior to his retirement in 2003.
But when he was a boy, he dressed like a girl.

I don't give a shite if boys wear dresses or play with dolls. If people don't want to fit into societal norms they don't have to.
I actually do give a shite that children are being explicitly sexualized, given chemical castration drugs, and having gender reassignment surgery performed upon them, while the rest of us have to pretend that they actually are things they are not.

Of course not. You had no middle class back then just the elites and everyone else.
Young boys from not wealthy families werent having their portraits done all dressed up.
