Do you have a Christmas Pickle?

I was a having a conversation with someone today who thought I was crazy for putting a pickle on my Christmas Tree.
AS a kid i remember this being a tradition at my Oma and Opa's house. On Christmas morning, the first kid to find the pickle would get an extra present from Santa Claus and it was meant to be good luck for the next year.
Doesn't everyone do this?

Yep ... my wifes (no pics) family are german and its a tradition for them. The tradition is to hide it on the tree and the kids get to find it and get the present associated w it.

Yes we have one and a little extra gift for the child finding it …. My wife’s side and tradition … she is from Nola.
as a kid my parents had a Christmas ornament that opens and they put a few bills in for each child. We do that also.. my side… my parents tradition handed down.. they were from the Bronx

We do. But I never heard of that until my first Christmas with Mrs. Rebel. I assumed it was a yankee thing.
